Can’t fault our effort but our skills are close to the worst in the comp.
We aren’t winning too many games this year

Ronnie Biggs would have been proud of that smash and grab.. but let’s be honest ,if Norwood had kicked straight in the first qtr it could have been all over. From a Dogs perspective we looked to be swimming against the tide for most of the night except for a brief period late in the 3rd qtr when Chisholm had some important influence, and then early in the last when Grace and Lange finally broke their respective shackles. I thought Annand was very good again and the big fella Tomkinson had his best game for us so far in terms of contributions at crucial times. 39 frees to 23 a bit lopsided, umps were far too whistle happy for my liking with a couple to Norwood in the last couple of minutes bordering on ridiculous. Sets up a big clash against the Blues next week
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Norwood fighting for their season... 30 more tackles than the Dogs.
Assisted by a 39 to 23 free kick count.
Negated all our ball winners. Not one Dog player at his best (except maybe Posthuma and Tomkinson)

And yet we still found a way to win.

we'll win more if the club did something to improve our horrendous goal accuracy that's plagued us for too many season.

I don't think it's right to look at the score and assume things about Norwood's bad kicking for goal (though there were 2 or 3 OOF), Centrals would have rushed about 5 points in the first half under Norwood pressure. It was relentless early, and we only came good when we got off the back foot.

As for the umpires, really felt like they were killing our momentum, and certainly assisted Norwood's late run. 39 to 23 is lopsided, but 62 frees in a game is a bigger issue.

I only watched the last 10-15 mins, Norwood butchered it in front of goals, most were under little pressure.

Dunno about the rest of the match.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

take a look at our scores for the last 5 seasons. Its par for the course for us to kicking inaccurately for goal and we have lost many games because of it..

Finn Heard was brilliant in ruck for us, definitely the first time we haven’t been beaten all game in that position.

A real shame that we really lost it ourselves with pathetic kicking up forward. Worst thing wasn’t our behinds, it was the inability to even a register a score multiple times from pretty gettable shots. As others have said our skill levels are so poor it can be a really hard watch.

Now we are getting a few reinforcements back, excuses are getting thin for a lack of accountability.

Hats off to Central for having the better skill levels, a big improvement over recent seasons.
