Its no wonder most of the other teams have their team meeting outside theres less chance of being overheard. And the state of the oval is terrible the council normally dump a big load of sand on it for cricket and that doesnt help. Actually on saying that, this season for the first time the council laid turf at both ends of the cricket pitch and in the goalsquares. Covering up the bald patches :)
Im not saying i dont love my club cos i do but something needs to be done about the rooms at least.

get rid of the ferals that come and watch would be a good start :D
but seriously, i drive past eastern park every day and the biggest problem there is they can only train on one side of the oval because of the lights. ( most clubs are in the same situation ) so once it rains, that side of the oval is one long bog...

actually thats a load of crap if you actually saw training youd know that all 3 senior teams train at the same time the A's and B's on the big oval and the C's on the smaller oval down the bottom. there is no problem with training.
and not ALL our supporters are feral :D

for surface and facilities, not many get past traeger park in alice springs. considering it is used for 10 matches each weekend plus training sessions during the week, it is able to remain one of the best regional ovals in the country. one of the good things about having a rich economy and only two major population centres in a state.

One of the best ovals (For slow buggers like me) or worst ovals (for skilled/most footballers) was Flagstaff Hill oval before the new drainage was put in. Here is a pic from July 2004, and yes we trained on it twice a week.

There are a number of good ovals out there..
The new Golden Grove oval is a great surface, even in the middle of winter
Salisbury Oval was always good, because of the open spaces and the supporters always gave a hard time to everyone

As for Bad ones
Tea Tree Gully was terrible after June time.... BUT
Modbury was the worst ground because not only was there no grass before the rain.. but after the rain it smelt like cat piss....
Then there was the day they played a game at foxfield Athelstone, where a bloke from Full Back kicked it in from a point down the hill (and down wind) and a mark was taken about 15m out from goal....
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

Les Burdett would be impressed with Goolwa.

Great surface, great size, great shape. Shame about the visitors rooms.....
