Champion Data = Pile of horse poo

Kicking efficiency is rubbish stat, any kick over 40m is considered efficient, whether it hits the target or not.

 I wouldn't have thought

Ha I'll remember that the next time a 40 m F50 entry misses the target and is either a LBG or intercept mark to the defending team who then slingshots it out the other side for a sausage down the other end

Really Dutchy???

I get your point about kicking efficiency as a percentage as that can be misleading but there is clear data that shows the absolute number of effectitive kicks/disposals is a key stat that = wins

Happy to show you the article

Its all about context, fans seeing kicking efficiency and get mislead as they dont drill down on it, the clubs/coaches absolutely drill down on it and can see every disposal from a player from a game with a click of a mouse.

Hahaa, really? Ok.

Yup, it's true.

ABC did an article on it in 2023.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-01/ ... /102420562

As per Champion Data and the AFL, an effective kick is where the ball finds a teammate, or is kicked to a contest at least 40 metres away.

The article goes into detail on the difference between effective and ball retention, but that line above is all you need to confirm that a long kick is automatically effective, in the afl's eyes anyway.

It's the only reason Andy McGrath has a high % of "effective" kicks

The clubs will also receive detailed stats on up to 4 different kick types, so very easy to identify the efficiency of a player, again something the public dont have access to, as far as Im aware

Once again a very frustrating lose. Just doing to many basic things wrong. Missed some pretty easy goals for AFL players. Fog and Peatling giving away 50 resulting in goals. Worrell has time fumble in the goal square holding the ball goal. Time on goals is a real issue. Should have given Tex a rest and had another look at Draper. Smith probably not in our best 23 any more but for some reason feel like he would have been really handy today.

Adelaide has almost had the inverse of Port's drafting, their mid range picks are good but the top liners haven't set the world on fire.

Thilthorpe and finally Fogarty excluded, and looks like they made the right call with Curtin, so potentially this has been sorted?
