Easter trip summary -

Got to have a hit at Blackwood before leaving, gee I love that course/club, I think thats where I will eventually end up, hcap got knocked down to a 15 with hole 2 out of action, 31 points and played pretty well.

Naracoorte on Good Friday, bit of a rush around and only got in 15 holes but this course is very tight with almost every hole being a dogleg, played rubbish as I was very weary, fairways ok, greens very good and well maintained

Port Fairy - Wow, what a place, one of the very few true links courses on the mainland, an absolute pleasure to play, every hole made you think through how you play it and with the wind up on the day (2-3 clubs) we played it was a true test, its not overly long but you do need to straight on a lot of the holes. I started well with pars on 2 of the first 3 and was 4 over standing on the 7th tee, fell apart a bit from there but overall I was happy with 30 points and 89 off the stick + a pick up. Itching to get back there again now, always the case when you play a new course.

Warrnambool the next day for 9 holes, we all went down there to go to the hot springs in the morning so chucked the clubs in, fair to say we were very relaxed when we arrived. Pretty cool being at the home of the Leish, more of a traditional course with a bit of a linksy feel. Holes 4,5,6 are what they call Shipwreck corner, all short tight par 4's near the beach, something unique. Enjoyable hit, had a birdie on 8 and par on 9 to finish well but only 13 points after butchering the early holes. Then off to the Warrnambool FC for a few beers and look at their unbelievable set up for a country footy club

Can't recommend Pt Fairy enough, both golf wise but also as a place to stay, great place.

Twilight.
Still learning the new Driver.
First hole hit was just a push.
Second hole was a slight push but managed to get through the trees and held a line above the mounds. Left 100m in.
4th just a big block but managed to still get past the bunker out there on the right.
5th - hit a beautiful drive that went straight and just fell to the right with the slope. Left 110m
6th - went gun barrel straight at a tree I aimed at down the left. Expected a slight fade. But happy with the connection.
8th - again hit it gun barrel straight and went past a hazard marker on the right that I'm.not sure I've got past. I use that as a guide. The best drives go that long. This just a bit further.

Putting was ok.
The 100-120m shots killed me today

17pts

Driver works.

Weight in heel
+2°
Draw setting

The best ones went average of 240m
There were a couple of not so good hits. But think I need a midsize grip.
Hit one. Didn't feel like it was that good.... still went 240m  so far so good.

85 off the stick.

Tail breeze today.... went through the 1st green
On the 4th a little draw around the corner and left myself 175mish and the 3w then ended up in bushes behind the green
This club is dynamite
On 10th - 350m left it 65m short  downbreeze but still a decent hit

Fair to say I like the club.

Twilight
17pts

Made a few minor tweaks to set up.
If target is say 12 o'clock, I have the face and my feet lined up to say 1 o'clock. In a limited test the results have been good.
Look forward to testing it for 18 holes tomorrow under the high pressure of comp

Managed to get 18 in at the Vines, was 2 over standing on the 7th tee and you know what happens from there!

21 points on the front 9 only to fold up and get 12 on the back. Driving and Putting good, irons shocking.

Despite 33 points my hcap dropped from 18 to 17?

Depends what round you had dropping off.
And the maths used to be that if you played to 32pts you would drop.

Went to the Doc's today which is right next to Flaggy GC, looks like they are putting the finishing touches on the development which now looks very impressive, is there an opening date? Are the 1st and 10th holes going back to par 5's?

the Grand Opening at this stage is next weekend.
the first and the 10th will revert back to being par 5s.
I think the first will be a par 5, as they will have work to do preparing the 10th
they were doing work on the 9th near the creek when i went out there this arvo. theres now a concrete path from the 9th that goes atleast half way to the green.
looks like there is also a path up around where the first tee is going to be. and im fearful if the tee is going where i think it is, because that is in play if you severely pull - hook the ball towards those trees and you get through it.... may have done that a few times

Yep the comp was off the reds.
Similar a month ago on a Wednesday comp as well. It's good fun. Changes the course up on a few of the holes. But do lose 4 shots on the handicap

11 for 18.
Started off ok. But finally hooked a ball over the fence in 15 when normally the miss is back out onto 11. Seen it on the front yard of a house
16 played it ok.
17 hit a great drive over trees but unfortunately had a draw and would have ended in the rubbish.
From there the Driver was ok but irons were horrible.

Wirrina tomorrow
