Round 1 tips

Lots of guesswork so just going on the past and a hunch

Victor over GPE easily

McLaren in a tight one over Myp/Sell

Bays over Willunga - Hows the oval at Willunga? They've been having trouble getting water on it?

Yank over Strath

Compass over Creeks who should be competitive at least but Pinyon could rack up a huge tally if plays at FF as Creeks have no match up for him at all with Derham missing Rd 1.

Victor the Only certainty with Compass next best tho one never knows. Other 3 games could go either way

Watched a much improved GPE play today. While the scoreboard showed a comprehensive win to VH, GPE were very competitive. Showed some good skills and speed. Just lacked the ability to put together passages that allowed conversion.

Going to be a long season for the Roosters, lost their B &F, Simounds to Keith, what's the go there? Back and forward every year, Going down to Yank first up, would've been a big night in Yank.

The 2 derbies against the Creeks playing for the Daish Cup will hold extra significance for both teams as i think they're both in for a long season as i would be shocked if either challenged for Finals.

Round 2

Pongy v Willunga: should be match of the round. Pongy I think
McLaren v Compass: McLaren
Bays v yank: Bays
GPE v Strath: 5 ins for GPE from round 1 will make this close. GPE
LC v VH: some big names back for VH should see them win well.

Pongy
McLaren
Bays
Until i see a real improvement on the scoreboard by GPE i've gotta pick against them so Strath , even tho i tipped Strath for the Spoon so yes i'm confused

Some BIG Ins for the Creek with at least 5 changes from last week. Having said that if Vicror have some BIG Ins as well that will likely negate that.
Victor comfortably tho Creek to be somewhat competitive at times

3 close contests and 2 blowouts.
Willunga by 2
Goolwa by 8
Bays by 8
Victor by 81
McLaren by 98

But surprised by the McLaren score.
Yank and goolwa good improvements from 24 so far.

Creek came to play early with VH sluggish and goalless in the first. All VH in the second and third with 10 and 9 through many options up forward.

Good to see Yank and GPE becoming more competitive

Only 2 rounds in but i've got a Victor / McLaren GF at about $1.30 :o

Whats the go with Victor B Grade FOD ? You mentioned the A's' had some big ins so i'd assume the B's' would have a bit of depth and whilst not getting hammered by any means, losing would have to be considered a surprise? Or maybe Victor dont have a huge amount of depth?

Yes I was quite surprised.
A bit of investigation:
Only one of the 4 out of the round 1 As side played Bs. 4 senior (read quality) guys out of the Bs from round 1.
13 from the GF side missing.
I think overall depth is pretty good but not yesterday it seems.

Anzac Day Round 3

Strath host the Creeks in a twilight match starting 4.35pm. Pressure is on both team to open their seasons account.
Jarrod Kellock plays his 200th game for the Creeks, has been a superstar for them over his career with 8 B&Fs and 5 Premierships and will be a shock if he's not in their best players again. Creeks will need to keep a watch on Straths prized recruit in Declan Gladigau. A long time respected Strath member stated that he played the BEST game ever seen by someone in a Rooster jumper in Round 1 against Yank. Thats a HUGE statement considering the quality of players over the last 50 years that this person has witnessed. Same person was also reported as saying that the Roosters are in for a very long season. Losing to last years 2 cellar dwellers 1st up indicate that and if they are not competitive with the Creek tomorrow it's will be testing times. Same applies to the Creek if they go down
Creeks by 4 - 5 goals

Yank have certainly improved this year as they fully tested the Bays last match. Will be interesting to see how they measure up against the reigning Premiers who are certainly under pressure to register their 1st win and they wont want to take this one for granted.
Mudlarks by 25 points

Bays host Victor. Bays have had 2 nailbiters to open the season so will be battle hardened compared to victor who have had 2 soft wins.
I expect Victor to find a bit tougher opposition here but all things being equal should be running out comfortable winners
Victor by 43

Compass host GPE . Hard to line up the form from the 1st 2 matches but given it's at Compass , the Bulldogs should get the win.
Compass by 22 points

McLaren host Willunga in the match of the round. McLaren are a genuine flag contender whilst Willunga coming off a poor season are looking to re establish themselves as a finals contender. Opening the season with 2 nailbiting wins over last years premiers and finalists E Bay has been a great start but will be fully tested here. McLaren have been impressive in their opening 2 matches and i dont expect them to let their gaurd down here

Great preview JJ. Interesting report on Gladigau- big comments!

Agree with all your tips. Kinda think the EB v VH game might be closer but I’ll take that margin!

Creeks end up demolishing Strath by 14 goals 19 - 9 to 5 - 9
Not surprisingly Jarrod Kellock receives the ANZAC Medal for BOG with 10 goals to celebrate his 200th game for the Creeks.
Strath lost Gladigau in the 2nd quarter for the match after being knocked out after falling heavily after taking a mark. Creek player was red carded for tunneling. Looks fairly innocuous on the replay (Not the clearest view of it tho) and think it was more just a footy incident rather than an action that had any malice in it but it just highlights how vulnerable a player is when they're in the air and have their legs taken out from under them.
