I must admit I do laugh at all the comments about 'Buffet sitting on a fortune of cash', and that he's staying out of the markets cause he saw this coming, etc.

Buffet has $334m in cash, out of a networth of $167B (probably 10% less with the latest market movements).
Means he's got 2% in cash.
Hardly a substantial portion of his portfolio.

Really starting to dread our US trip now.
Aus dollar is dropping by the day and Border Security is getting down right nasty and vindictive.
Know of a couple of pilots who got a stern talking to and threatened with being denied further entry due to negative Trump posts on social media.
I can also foresee some rioting in the coming months and don’t think it’s going to be the best of places to visit

I’m laughing because he’s holding (via Berkshire Hathaway Inc) $325 Billion in cash, not Million … a pretty significant rounding error. :YMPEACE:

Ah, appreciate the clarification. That makes more sense!

I saw the 334 number knew his NW was 167B, so assumed the 334 must be M not B, as he couldn't have a net worth less than his cash alone.

Ok, so it is 334B, but that's all of BH, which he owns about 15% of.
Makes his personal cash position roughly 50B of 167B. 30% is far more relevant! haha

It’s a blood bath … US futures are down again, so expect the Dow to tank tonight.

Nikkei futures were suspended due to their circuit breaker.

Slight rally on the ASX after early morning massive falls.

Not good Jim, what do you think you’ll do?
I’m definitely still going to the West Indies for the cricket but do have some backup plans in place. Currently we are flying there via Europe and the US but can substitute that for direct flights from Europe (costly) or via South America. Just in case it’s the later we have gone and got our Yellow Fever vaccination with a handful of other recommended shots.
The Alaskan cruise at the end of the trip with Cunard we can cancel and we could head back to Europe after the Caribbean. Will let it play out a bit more first though as I’d rather stick with current plans iAd it’s a logistical nightmare to change or cancel

I have a European & a Chinese factory i buy material from for work - obviously chinese is cheaper but everything there is exchanged through the US Dollar - good fun quoting projects at the moment & just losing $$ overnight now. It is our parent company that I buy from so our credit terms are whatever we like within limit, but the worrying thing now is we will hold off on paying these bills waiting on the dollar to increase only to have a large debt come payment time

ASX down nearly 2% in early trade after the Dow dropped 0.84% in a late drop after gains for most of the day

The cause? China tariffs increased to 104% by the orange imbecile.

It’s time for Congress to act and remove the farcical Presidential emergency powers that the conman is using to play his idiotic game.

Travel to the US down 25-50% already with some airlines looking to cut it or suspend services. Hotel chains are reporting 35% drop on forward bookings too.
