Eddie just announced on footy classified, next year to look like

Preseason state of origin SA, Vic, WA & Indigenous All stars in group 1. NT, Qld, NSW & Tassie in group 2.
Round 1, all Vic teams play in Melbourne & local derby's in SA, WA, NSW & Qld.
Mini gather rounds in Qld & NSW sometime instead of the current opening round crap
Women's International vs Ireland sometime
AFL GF to be played on the 2nd week in October (does that clash with Bathurst?)
NFL game on pre finals bye weekend (I think that's what he said)

There might have been one other thing

Jesus, footy already starting earlier than ever and now want to encroach two weeks into October. Not long away from football being a 10 month a year sport.

Crazy to think local leagues will be finishing up in the mid / 3rd week of September and the AFL will still be going for almost a month afterwards.

Have fun with that cricket.

The season would start later - think he said start of April. They want to avoid the F1 & without saying it possibly the shield final too

Oscar Allen met with Sam Mitchell on Monday. West Coast say they will not take any action on their Captain.

I would imagine the rank and file West Coast supporters would want him relieved of the Captaincy. Might make him a better player. Currently in dreadful form and if not Captain would be close to being dropped.

Yes, correct.
A lot of these ideas were for the benefit of Melbournians. There was also mention of a Melbourne horse race usually on that 2nd weekend in October being moved to the sunday.

Makes perfect sense when most of your list is closer to cashing in their super than they are to their draft age...

'No one understands the rule anymore': Beveridge appeals to AFL

Luke Beveridge has urged the AFL to clarify rules around tackling and holding the ball

WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge says coaches have never felt more "helpless" about guiding their players how to tackle.

The longest-serving coach in Bulldogs history believes there is "total confusion", even within the umpiring ranks, about how to correctly penalise tackles.

When asked for his thoughts on Richmond forward Rhyan Mansell receiving a three-game suspension for pushing St Kilda defender Liam O'Connell into a contest, Beveridge directed his frustrations elsewhere.

"I don't want to be too controversial today," the 2016 premiership coach said on Thursday.

"The main one that we're all focusing on, moving away from that (Mansell incident), is there's just too much uncertainty across the league in regards to source pressure situations with tackling and being tackled.

"No one understands the rule anymore, and it's very difficult to coach it.

"How long can you hang on to the ball? Can you attempt to dispose of it? Throw it out, miss it completely, is it play on?

"No one understands it.

"So the suggestion for me was to make sure we bring back prior opportunity and validate incorrect disposal."

Last year, the AFL adjusted how its umpires interpret holding the ball after coaches, led by Gold Coast's Damien Hardwick and Carlton's Michael Voss, called on umpires to start making faster decisions.

Beveridge has raised it personally with the AFL.

"We've gone from that to now this total confusion, so unfortunately we need a correction and it needs to come from City Hall (the AFL) and through the umpires.

"Because the umpires are just finding it too hard.

"They don't know how to adjudicate it and our players don't know what the decision is going to be.

"I don't think we as coaches have ever felt as helpless around that and coaching it as we do now.

"I think the whole competition is confused."

Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

I reckon all teams should boycott it. That would mean the AFL would have to have all teams play at the same time. And I have a name for it. They should call it "Rd 1"!
