So for those who may be like me and not seen any of the pre season matches and have woken up realising Opening Round is upon us, barring Alfred getting in the way.

Who's winning and who's not?

Seems St kilda are rubbish
Crows play finals

Fremantle and Adelaide improve the most, St Kilda looks dead set bottom 4.

Other than that I haven't seen anyone or anything that makes me think the ladder will change significantly.

I take zero from trial games.

Brisbane will still be around the mark, given they've improved by getting the no1 draft pick at no5, but losing Daniher. They'll get Coleman back which will help greatly.

Adelaide I still have in the 10's (10-13), Port sliding a bit because of injury and the rest about the same. In saying that, each year someone jumps into the top 4, but I can't see who will do a Hawthorn in 2025.

These pricks burn me every year but I still think Freo might jump in the 8.
It’s time for the Suns to put up or shut up too and I reckon they will be in the mix to make it

The cynic on me thinks this is part of the AFL's plan to remove the bye and remain front and centre for the entirety of the season

And it should

Makes sense to have those two playing the finals bye round as it’s their last game of the season :-P

Well, not really.

Port play the Suns in round 24 and Essendon play Carlton.

My guess is the round 23 fixture of Carlton v Port will be brought forward to the Thursday night, the round 24 games early as possible and then Gold Coast v Essendon in round 24 will be late on the Sunday / mid week and all the clubs might have 5-6 day breaks. The bye weekend will still be a bye weekend. I reckon they've earmarked that for the AFLW GF.
