Tasted nice with good sized feeds too. $4 extra for a parmi but well worth it.

I picked the 4 corners on keno while I was there, looked up and seen "$120 won here" on the screen................it was my ticket. whacked $50 in the Big Red pokie machine and took out $200 then left.

Good night down there as always.

Ended up about $70 up thanks to a same race multi. Made the mistake of suggesting to the partner to pick two numbers each and put them in trifecta's for the whole night, she likes #6 which at a guess is the rarest number to salute.

Chakna - Indian on Rundle St

Jalapeno poppers were OK needed more filling.

Chilli chicken - absolutely superb.
Some spicy potato dish, also quite nice.

Service 8/10
Food 8/10 - the chilli chicken gives it a boost. The poppers popped the score a tad.

I think young people suspected I was on poppers

You might want to google this word...

Should have gone the pingers instead of the poppers

Oscars Restaurant McLaren Vale

Four of us for lunch. Opens at 12 and we got there then. Within 30 minutes there were probably 60-70 people there.

Cheese and Garlic Pizza in the middle of the table

Fettuccine Marinara was delicious with heaps of different seafood
Supreme Pizza
Ravioli
Prawn Pasta (cannot remember the name)

Food was magnificent, zero complaints at all.

Staff were superb, young lady that served us and others knew about every item asked about on the menu.

Food 9.8/10
Staff 10/10
Value 9.5/10. $160 for 4 people (no alcohol)

Would go back in a heartbeat, closer to home than I had originally thought

Lone Star.

300g Waygu Rump: Cooked perfectly, served with a well compiled mash potato along with a rocket/parmesan salad that was hard work to eat with a fork.
Tempura Battered Fish: 4 decent sized pieces served with chips an slaw.
A side of onion rings and two soft drinks.

$88 all up, I would've thought the salads are more suited the other way around but no big deal. Had the perfect mix for two people sharing dishes, will be back.

Not sure mate, pretty much everything at the table of 12 was rated "Meh" and the kids cutting sick in the playground made it impossible to hear.

My step Mum booked it, last time she was there she said it was quiet. That was noon on a Tuesday mind you and she didn't think about the play ground.

Just had lunch at the Coopers' Brewery, on Regency and South. This place (the cafe/bar, not the actual brewery) is only about 6 month old. It shows; the grounds are well manicured, the cafe/bar itself is shiny and austere. Decent size room and not even half full with punters. A bar at either end serving all the Coopers standard beers plus some one-offs.

The food menu verges on pooncey and is priced accordingly. My table had only pizzas and burgers. I had the mushroom pizza myself; was made with blue cheese and almonds and cost $25. Nice enough and the toppings were not sparse.

Service was verging on slow, hampered by people ahead of us in the line who were ordering tasting paddles, but got swifter once another service droid stepped behind the counter. Food delivery was also on the slow side, though served by staff who were cheerful and polite.

I'd give it a B+. Would go again on an occasional basis. Might be nice to check out for Friday drinks ... there's a train station 10 minutes' walk down Regency road.

The Rising Sun - Auburn

This is a live review.

Food ordered roughly an hour ago. We hear the waitress inform 2 tables around us that there was a bit table out the back, and food is 10mins away.

The initial service was really good.
The lack of information about the delay, has more than negated that positivity.

Seafood trio and S & P squid hopefully do the job.... let's see

71mins in waiting and get told it's 3mins away

3mins became 15

No apology.

Food was absolute garbage.

Very disappointing.

Sadly not surprised. Not a great pub!!!

Unfortunately if you want to eat out in the mid north avoid most of the pubs except Sevenhill Hotel and The Watervale.

Go to the specialist restaurants of which there are some great ones.
