Marnus.......really?

No JFM? No Agar? But one glaring absence is Connolly, would've thought Abbott and Spencer would've gotten a plane ticket too.

Head
Short
Marsh
Smith
Hardie
Inglis
Stoinis
Maxwell
Cummins
Starc
Zampa

Would that be the probable line up with that squad?

I reckon Hardie has batted 8 in the games he has played. I think you have the 11 right, could be Laba instead of Hardie
Not sure how Stoinis keeps getting selected.
Youre right re Connolly, id have in the 11 instead of Stoinis
JFM should just about be in the never again basket, might be a T20 only player, but he would be lucky to be getting a game of Grade cricket atm

Hardie has batted 8 for Aus three times in eleven matches and has also batting 3, 6 and 7.

Agree about Stoinis. He hasn't made an ODI fifty since 2019 and since then averages 17.11 with a strike rate of 93.59. His career average and strike rate are 26.69 and 93.96. He averages 18.4 against spin over his career.

Looking at his bowling since last ODI fifty he averages 40.5 with the ball with a strike rate of 40.9 and economy of 5.93 which is a tiny bit better than his overall career average (43.12), strike rate (43.1) and economy (5.99). He has 48 wickets in 71 ODI's with a best bowling of 3/16.

The right decision was made with Fraser-McGurk, there’s no way he should be playing for Australia given his recent form.

I guess the selectors didn't consider quicks like Abbott, Bartlett and Johnson because of conditions?

I think you hit the nail on the head with the last line, I probably would've taken the latter two for the experience.

Although I have limited knowledge for judgement but I'm not a huge Nathan Ellis fan, I rate Bartlett much higher, just my perception.

Good to see some common sense prevail as they left JFM out.

My only changes would've Ellis, Stoinis and Marnus out, Bartlett, Connolly and Webster in.

My XI
Head
Short
Marsh
Smith
Connolly
Maxwell
Carey
Webster
Cummins
Starc
Zampa

Following Mitch Marsh being ruled out of the Champions Trophy, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are likely to be ruled out through injury.

Australia captain Pat Cummins is "heavily unlikely" for the Champions Trophy because of his ankle issue. Steven Smith and Travis Head are in the frame to captain, while Josh Hazlewood is also battling to make it on time, according to coach Andrew McDonald.

Cummins missed the Test tour of Sri Lanka due to the birth of his second child, but he has also been nursing the ankle issue that had flared up after a heavy workload in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Australia's ODI players, who are not on the Test tour, are due to fly out to Sri Lanka on Thursday but McDonald revealed on Wednesday morning that Cummins was unlikely to be among them.

Hazlewood is understood to be dealing with a hip issue after recovering from the side and calf injuries that saw him miss three of the five Tests against India and the Test tour of Sri Lanka.

Great point Locky.

Back in the day you could play with a broken back or caved in face, such was the lack of quality in the competition.

Now days even the slightest niggle is enough to prevent you performing at a suitable level, given how much the standard has improved.
