As I posted last week (and was shot down by the Westies supporters on here), have it on good authority from someone very close at the Club that they are in a world of pain and it is looking very grim. Whoever takes over these key positions has a lot of pressure on them.

Nobody wants to see a club in danger, we need all clubs to be strong to help the whole comp remain as healthy as possible, so hoping they can sort out the huge mess that currently exists.

Have always paid a lot less than other clubs for assistant coaches and football department roles.
This has never helped keep or attract good staff.

Don't have the money unfortunately.

Correct.

We pay our coaches, staff and players less than the other clubs.
Our salary cap is significantly less than the other clubs.
There simply isn’t enough revenue coming through the doors.

The writing is on the wall. Find a team to merge with (maybe an amateur club) or the doors are going to close in my opinion.

Don't want to see any club fall, or merge. I wonder if an option could be the Crows using West Adelaide as Fremantle use Peel Thunder. It's a stones throw from Thebarton and the Crows are hardly a presence in the SANFL. At least it would buy Westies some time, if things were that bad.

I suspect that some time down the track, the SANFL will seperate from the AFL and become a league running with much less expense/salary cap and/or mainly an U18 type feeder competition to the AFL.

I was wondering how the U18 setup worked over in WA, seems Peel has the full development pathways even though they have AFL alignment.

Given how Port had to give up their junior pathways, it would certainly throw a cat amongst the pigeons if the Crows aligned with Westies.

Yeah, right. While there's corporates at SANFL HQ with desires to hold higher offices the SANFL will be the AFL's play thing.

Booney is correct, no chance AFL and SANFL "separating" they want us in bed as much as we need to be sweet with them, how else can they control the SANFL when their two franchises come calling because the SANFL isn't playing "nice"

I think the Crows would LOVE to absorb/align with West,
no more bickering about NAITS, West would become The Crows reserves,
West would sell Richmond (If they own it) & inject the money into the Crows new facilities,
West to keep their identity & become very strong.

I wasn't clear - I meant more so the AFL Reserves sides will leave. The SANFL will always be at the beck and call of the AFL. We saw how desperate the SANFL were to keep the Crows and Port in the SANFL competition last year and Port have no issue indicating their desire to split from the SANFL - even after the concessions. Maybe the SANFL were buying time?

Is this the first year the money from West Lakes has stopped filtering through to the clubs? As Wolf Pack says, there isn't enough revenue coming in. I'm sure Westies wouldn't be alone in the struggle - even if in a worse position at the moment.
