Decent squad, but I can't see Khawaja making runs next summer in the Ashes, and therefore can't help but feel we've missed a chance to move on from him.

SL to win the series 2-0
IF we can square the 2 test series we will do well
Prabath Jayasuriya will be the matchwinner for SL

Yep
The 5th Test v India should've been his farewell Test
Now it's gonna end unpleasantly for him

Sri Lanka are a far better outfit over there and we have struggled in recent tours.

Who takes his place? No doubt he'll score two tons in Galle and buy himself immunity.

News story on the Today Show:

Glenn Maxwell responds to be being snubbed by the national selectors with a MOTM half century last night.

Why does this come up every time we go to the sub-continent? Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to have seen him play more test cricket but he is 36 years old and hasn't played a test since 2017, give it a rest.

Interesting stat though, every test that he has played has been in the sub-continent.

At some stage he'll get pushed out and will come back better. Not sure it will happen after this tour but it will happen.

S Waugh, M Waugh, Ponting, Hayden, Langer, Clarke, Boon, I Chappell, Martyn, Warner, Tayler et al all got dropped

The only two who never had an extended period out of the team as I recall are Greg Chappell (may have missed some ROW tests in 71-72) and Alan border (I think he missed two tests in 1979)

Greg Chappell was 12th man for the first two Rest of the World tests in 1971-72 and Alan Border incredibly was dropped for the last test of the 1978-79 Ashes series. He had made 60 not out and 45 not out in the 4th test in Sydney, failed in Adelaide and was dropped.
Even Don Bradman was made 12th man after his failures in his first test.

Spare a thought for Stuart Law
Made 54 not out on debut, and was dropped , but never made the test team again

am Bays - I know your love for him isn't strong because he never played for Glenelg or wasn't a wicket keeper but you included Mark Taylor in your list of players who have been dropped. But I have a feeling Tubby was never dropped.

12th man v West Indies Perth IIRC 1993 but yeah you're right he's in the GS Chappell and Border category

He also kept twice in test matches Trent Bridge 1989 and SCG 1991 when Healy had to go off for treatment ;)

Just looked it up, Tubby got dropped for the 5th test in the 92/93 series against the Windies, the game where Curtly tore us a new one.

I don't think David Warner was ever dropped, per se.

Suspended for giving Joe Root a slap, then the sandpaper incident. But never dropped on form.

His slumps were never more than 4-5 tests and there was usually a half century during them, then he'd bounce back with a big hundred, it's how he batted so we had to take the good with the bad.

Although I'm not a fan of the individual as I once was I have an enormous amount of respect for his talent as a batter, he was once pigeon-holed for the white ball on the back of some Super 6 form in Malaysia or wherever it was but he worked on his game to be one of the best test openers that we've produced.

Wouldn't mind seeing peoples thoughts on a Best XI of the millennium.

I'd go:

Warner
Hayden
Ponting
Smith
Clarke
M.Hussey
Gilchrist
Warne
Cummins
Johnson
McGrath
