Unless you're talking about the administration of CA I'm not sure what else could've been done, I think player for player they are a better XI than us.
My only suggestions are to have more shield games prior to the first test for players to audition for and force all available players to play in them. Get rid of junk ODI's and T20's in November/December, play them in the new year.
Surely Webster is looking at a debut next test at Marsh's expense, everyone else has done enough to keep their spots for now, I'd rather see us take a risk in Sri Lanka though trying to get some experience into the group.
It’s basically Bumrah v Australia. The rest of their bowlers are pedestrian plodders and their top order batting is just as fragile as ours.
Bailey is a deadset disagrace, the constant love affair with Marsh who is picked as an all rounder but doesn’t bowl and can’t bat is absurd and I know you have to play Trav but he is nowhere near fit to play IMO. You now have Starc possibly injured, Boland looking proppy and Lyon who looks like he is celebrating his 60th birthday. A lot of old and tired legs out there and everyone saw this coming except the selectors. Yeah McSweeney didn’t look great opening but tell me he couldn’t do the job Marsh is doing. I know Khawaja and a few others want to retire after the Ashes at home next year but I’d be forcing them out now
Agree with Bumrah vs Australia.
Since Marsh returned he had averaged 46 until 3 tests ago, he helped us through a lean time and restored some faith, time to go though.
Hard to judge the Head call, first dismissal was a standard Head dismissal, 2nd dig was plain ugly and lazy.
Not having a 5th bowler participating obviously wore out Boland and Starc who are both ageing, the Lyon comment was an absolute belter

.
I think Usi will have to be the first one to go, Smith has found something again and we can't have them both finish up at the same time.........along with 2-3 bowlers. I know I'll get shot down but I think our only option is to open up with Carey to allow the McSweeney/Webster types to develop their game batting in the middle order.
