Fairways can be overrated

Should have mentioned my mate stepped on a black snake when looking for his ball in the dam on the 2nd hole last night, it curled around his shoe and he kicked it off before it got a chance to bite, very lucky.

Always a good day.when we have them.

We had ours on the weekend too. Thought we were a chance shooting 9 under off a 7 handicap. Had a group off +2, 0, 1 and 2 shoot 18 under off the stick. They said they holed 250 something foot of putts. Just insane.

Twilight

Well my driver needs some attention at drummond in the morning. The head is loose....feels like it could fly off any stage...
3 wood. Hit a super drive with it on 4th and after that rubbish.
Putting was ok
Irons ok.
Eyes no good. Hit a drive up on tree line on 1st and never found it :?
13pts

Grange tomorrow
Could be very ugly.... :(

Cobra F8. Oldie now. Tempted to test out new ones to see if there's any gain to be had.
Getting fixed now.

Flaggy is in good nick.
Fairways have some length in them, so should be a similar feel to Vines.
The 1st and 10th are Par 4s.
The Temp Clubhouse is now on the 10th and parking is available down there. Just have to use the living choice driveway.

Looking forward to it, I think the front 9 at Flaggy one of the best 9 hole stretches in SA, really good variety of holes.

Has the 10th been shortened as well?

East course Grange

Absolutely howling wind all afternoon
Did make the mistake of hitting a putt with the galeforce wind instead of waiting..
31 points with a wipe.
There was some confusion after we finished 10th   and they have no signage
Found plenty of sand out in 1 except on 1 hole so reasonably happy with that
No driver, so 3wood it was.
Off the first it was beautiful.... low and ran a mile.
But hit one on the 9th I think where I hit it off the toe and went over onto 10th fairway about 100m
Putting was deplorable.

Ambrose tomorrow.... not sure we'll break the course record

Started off ok.
Par after finding bunker 1st
Bogey from bunker on 2.
4th was a scrub due to a very ordinary drive, finishing between 2 trees.
5th scrambled a point. Ball fell off tee and instead of putting it back I hacked it off the ground
6th was good par
7th bogey from the Swale.
8th was a good par, had birdie putt
9th, beautiful 9i from 118m drawing over the trees on the right over the bunker... and then 3 putted
Back 9 was similar.

33pts.

A minor detail left out from yesterday
We're on the 8th tee, let group from 17 go past. Then at the point where the path turns right towards 4 guys are there looking for balls. Completely oblivious to us.
Anyway, they got to the 11th tee and decided to hit towards the 1.5 hole...  which is the opposite direction

Good hit at Flaggy yesterday, greens were good, fairways pretty good, bunkers in good shape, the 16th hole is in poor condition though - looks like they might be doing some work on it. I enjoy Flaggy as I believe it is a better lay out than the Vines, but Vines has Flaggy covered on condition and presentation wise. Both are miles ahead of Thaxted (where im headed this arvo for a quick 9 with the lad).

Anyway golf was good also, I stood on the 9th tee 7 over but a poor tee shot resulted in a double and 44 off the stick with 19 points. Back 9 started well also with bogey, par, bogey and then it all unravelled at the back to back par 3's with a 7 & 5 respectively which completely wrecked an above average round for me. Fought back OK to round out with a 49 on the back and 93 and 35 points.

Overall very happy apart from those 2 holes. Hit 9 of 14 fairways with the big stick and trusty 2 iron, tried not to grip the driver so tightly and seemed to work. Irons solid also but putter let me down, on the 17th I was on for 2 and four putted. 3 putted a number of greens on top of that meant a poor day with the short stick.

Very enjoyable round with 3 mates in ideal conditions.

They spent some time upgrading the 16th. It played as a par 3 for a while, teed off just past the corner. The 17th I think is worse
One of the lads on Sunday was suggesting the fairways need a mow... I almost choked... I like the length they are at the moment.
