Bloke played 3 games for you and you're emotional he's worth points following an almost 200 game league career? :D

If it makes you feel better, think he drops to 0 in 2025?

To be classed as a Junior Player for a club you needed to play 20 games for that club from the year you turned 13 up to the year you turned 18. This is also the same for playing college footy which enables the player to be classed as a junior player for that colleges Old Collegian team.

My hypothetical player now plays two years of reserves for say 25 games after playing 18 games for me. He's played no where else in that time.

3 points?

I think everyone has missed my point, in that I'm not saying that Nunn being 4 points was a wrong or unfair result. It was patently fair.

Just testing the proposition as to the importance of playing your first game somewhere, and going elsewhere, in respect of the points system. The hypotheticals posited above trouble me at least a little bit.

Still be zero points? Your club would be his primary community club if that was the case?

See I tend to think it might be three points? He's transferred somewhere else, he's attracted points, he's transferred back to you, and come back not as a zero pointer?

Strikes me as a scenario that's unlikely albeit not impossible. Easy to picture someone who has grown up only playing basketball or something who takes up footy at age 18 following that route.

Yep, I reckon 3 points also. But if he played the 20 he comes back as 0 points. Swings and roundabouts.

Following on from the points questions.....I cant find the actual law anywhere so thought I'd ask the intellectual masses of SA Footy

In the Adelaide Footy League
If an A grade player comes to a club from another community club, he plays for 2 season at the club playing more than 30 games - does that player become a 0 pointer in his third season?

I know that's the rule in the country leagues but is it different for us?

Yes it would make him a 0.

If he'd only played 19 in that time and doesn't have a reasonable case for an in season injury, he'd still be 1 point for that 3rd season

I know of a player who had played 9 games between 2020-2022 at a local club while playing SANFL. Then in 2023 played every game for the sanfl club (no local footy). 2024 he left sanfl to play for this local club full time and was 4 points.

If he comes back from sanfl as 4 points then during the season reaches the 20 game mark, he would still be 2 points the following season.
You drop 1 extra point the following year once you have played 20 games i am fairly sure. Can't go from 3 or 4 points to 0.

Wristy - player points rules are the same for all leagues with the exception that the AdFL doesn't need to tinker with the allocation each club gets. The AdFL divisional structure takes care of equalisation policies therefore everyone from D1 to D7 gets 15 points to play with.

The rule you refer states: A registered player who achieves 20 Matches (without transferring) for the same Affiliated League Club will reduce one (1) additional point in their third (3) season after achieving 20 Matches.

So if a player comes to you as a 3 pointer e.g. played the majority of games in last 2 seasons at A grade level at another community club or majority Reserves at a SANFL Club - they drop to 2 points in their 2nd season. Then provided they reach 20 games during their 2nd season they will drop to 0 points in their 3rd season.

But to be clear with this rule. If finals mean you might achieve 20 games in your first season, it doesn't matter. You still can't get the additional point reduction until the 3rd season.

The same applies to a SANFL League player who has never played for your club previously. They start at 4 points then go to 3, then 1, then 0 over the next 3 seasons

Thanks mate, yep that checked out with the points audit. I couldn't find the rule or reg to support my claim but all good now.

Thanks for the clarity. Had the very question - Bloke played his 20 all in his first season but he will be a 2 this year and drop to zero next year. Retention is crucial.
