Who really cares about salary caps......scholarships from schools......lurks and perks

The only ones complaining.......are the clubs who can't do the lurks and perks......or they'd also be doing it.....Fact

Good for the game when these types of blokes are playing.....or coaching.....in the lower competitions like Amateurs and country leagues

Stop whining.......be happy.....stop being jealous.....be glad that these blokes are passing on knowledge

The salary cap......perks......lurks......brown paper bags. Going on all over the state........stop being obsessed with it.....cause no one will stop it

Of course it’s the clubs who don’t have the means to pay players with brown paper bags are the ones complaining, the clubs who are, are playing with a different rule book, which is a justified reason to complain.

Wa Wa Wa. Over time.....all clubs have paid with brown paper bags....lurks....perks....scholarships and a shit load of other ways.

Things balance out over time.....every decade has strong and weak clubs......the clubs just change from era to era

Get better at what your club does.....and stop grizzling about what other clubs do.....Get better at your club and stop bagging those who can.

The salary cap.....is just a heap of crap.....more than 2/3rd's of the clubs around SA don't abide by it....just get rid of it

Wasting volunteers time.....doing ridiculous paper work.....you won't stop it except in rare circumstances.....and thats been proven

A gazillion dollars spent each year with integrity officers.....by the powers that be.....who are clueless
And they've caught Kybybolite, Jervois, Willaston and Gaza in over a dozen years.......hahahha.....what a waste of time and resources

Has anyone stopped to think that the AFL Salary Cap rules possibly don’t allow Tex to be paid for any football related services other than what he receives from the Crows. Can’t it be a simple case of Tex and the Crows thinking it would be a good idea to do a “placement” at a club outside the Crows to work out if a coaching or player development role is in his future plans. He can’t do it at a SANFL club because of the Crows being in the SANFL so a D1 club not far from home and coached by a former team mate is an obvious choice. Am I being naive?

Yeah agree that money wouldnt be a major motivator Tex.

He is coming to the end of his career, one in which has / will open doors for him that we could only dream of. A little bit of groundwork with a Div 1 Ammo club before entering the big time is a perfect taste tester for both him and the club.

There would be a bit of back scratching going on both ways. McHenry obviously has a passion for coaching and getting Tex in might be a great career move if Tex jumps the coaching ranks ahead of McHenry once he finishes playing.

Probably the same clubs that were paying with brown paper bags when it was an amateur competition

as i said....before someone tried to call me someone i'm not......clubs should be able to get whoever they want.
No salary cap for players or coaches.....the game needs to be better.....not worse.....the good players make it better

and I say again.....the salary cap is a crock of shit......the people who oversea the salary cap are a crock of shit
just let it be.....the best will be the best.....if prince alfred want to give scholarships....then great

your club needs to get better.....don't bring the other clubs down.....because your shit and cant compete

Don’t know what’s worse - the way you post, or what you post.

Also things like the salary cap are in place equally to protect clubs from themselves as much as maintaining an equitable competition.

I do find it funny that every time this is called out the immediate response is along the lines of “I’m not sure who you are or the person you’re referring too”. Then as soon as it’s pressed further it gets personal and/or aggressive

Equally they’re answerable if they break the rules and are caught ala Gaza.

Maybe 2/3 clubs are over the cap, won’t know unless they’re caught.. but that’s the risk the run if they go outside the parameters and it’s a long way back.

Do you think AFL should do away with salary caps and equalisation methods?

If you got rid of salary caps in the AdFL it would end more clubs than it helped - clubs would either go outside their means, or be outspent by a rival.. it would severely increase the number of mercenaries that run around shopping themselves as well. No matter what way you look at it, it’s not sustainable for anyone.

get rid of salary caps......points are all thats needed......in our league points on a sliding scale works a treat.....Jervois and Imps dominated for years
Last year it was Mypo and the new Coorong Cats.....Cats shit in the gf
Not one person thinks the salary cap works......every club rorts it.......gazillions spent on integrity officers.......caught 4 clubs
Waste of time.....effort.....money when no one abdies by it anyways......shit load of extra paper work for volunteers
If anyone thinks salary cap works.......they believe in the easter bunny and Father christmas

It's a shame in that there's room for nuanced discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of the salary cap, but whatever this is, it ain't it.

We all acknowledge that no system for salary cap is perfect - and yes some clubs may look to push the boundaries ....or worse actually break the rules...and that is why the penalties are intended to be so severe that they are a deterent.

Is it perfect - No - will it ever be - No. But without it the league would be lawless and clubs may live beyond their means and ultimately collapse.
Most clubs respect they system and those that don't will eventually be exposed or found out.
