I reckon if you sit down and work it out, it will end up something like 2 end of first rounders for their 1st next year, which could be anything really.Armchair expert wrote:Not sure about that North trade
Pick 27 and Richmonds 2025 2nd
for
Norths 2025 1st

Yes, could not work it out. Went up one spot in front of West Coast when they were always picking Allen. Would like to hear the reason from Port

Possibly because the last time we had pick 16 we used it to draft Todd Marshall.

Whilst you might need a defender for 2025 realistically a pick 22 isnt going to ordinarily play tons of AFL footy next year.
Guessing with Blakey 24yo, Roberts 21yo, Campbell 22yo, McCartin 24yo they feel they have a solid enough defence that in 2-3 years time when this years draft pick is ready to go a potentially aging forward line (based of last years GF) of Papley 28yo, Hayward 26yo, Heeney 28yo, Parker gone will need some freshening up.

Next years draft is widely seen as one of the poorest in recent times and with Tassie looming large soon after most clubs saw this draft as the time to strike if they saw something they really wanted.

Clubs are cowards not bidding on these academy rort picks early, Ashcroft a f/s but a rort club should have been bid on pick 1

Getting sick of hearing everyone winge how the draft is rorted by father /son and academy picks getting to clubs for late picks so here is a solution .
All father / sons and academy players can be listed prior to the draft by the clubs that have access to them if they have the available spots on their list, that way all picks in the draft are as listed..
If clubs are lucky enough to have Father / son players who are top players good on them , it should go in cycles where each club get a father / son at some stage . With academy players if they spend the time and money developing those players .
For all the clubs having a whinge perhaps get off your arses and spend some money setting up academies of your own and developing players instead of spending big on that one recruit who is " going to make all the difference in that next flag "

I'm sure Carlton would love to set up an academy for every kid born in Victoria
