Yes, I was going to say Kobe Ryan or is he a "monty" to get drafted?
They can take 4 but nothing to say they will. They may take less and just pay more to get the couple of players over. They know they don't need too many to be more than competitive. This is all quite "sickening", F%^& the SANFL!
My guess would be that they will take 2 higher quality footballers (elite SANFL standard) than say take 4, mid-range role player types.
Under the new regulations 4 x SANFL/WAFL/VFL players is $10 K cheaper than a Rookie spot.
They can effectively have 12 players who have been promised a dream on $130K total vying for 2 rookie spots in June
I can see the Port and Crows using this to save money and create a bit of competition for the MSD, hey if you're good enough will elevate one or two of you....
I reckon Port are done with the over 21s. They got Mclennan, paying him a large chunk of the $70k (if not all), cheaper than a rookie spot (or Atkins) and not taking a list spot, to bolster their SANFL side. They may poach some under 21s after the draft. Crows will probably be similar with the idiotic salary increase they've received they can pick up a delisted AFL player for 70k (plus a $30k relocation "bonus", interesting) and bolster their SANFL side. I think the Crows are less likely to take a player from another SANFL side as they're less interested in "rocking" the boat, they know how good they've got it in the SANFL.
Remember amongst all the other lies at the time. the Crows said if the reserves vote wasn't unanimous, they wouldn't proceed.
