CLG Finally escape a prelim and make Div4.

Good on them, I thought Marion would have rolled them.

On this, there is always talk about players jumping ship, chasing money, or in general not having an interest / commitment to footy.

I feel like the coaching space has become worse in recent years - it's a massive workload to be a club coach, the remuneration isn't ever really good enough across the board for the hours and seems to be a push for increase more and more.. but further to that, coaches either aren't going around long term, or they want to handpick roles that seem the more suitable / ideal.

Finding a quality coach is becoming increasingly difficult and a highly competitive market.

Am I imagining this and over reacting?

I think you would be bang on about the longevity of coaches at clubs.

Is it a case that the role of the coach seems to have changed from both the coach and clubs perspective. Its comes across as that the focus is almost more parts recruiting and who can you bring to the club than it is developing a current playing group.

Therefore its a bit of a 2 way street, a coach is only going to roles where he feels he can bring 'his blokes' with him to get that immediate success most clubs feel they crave.

Obviously the threat of relegation plays a part as well, its all good and well to develop players but no club wants to drop down the grades whilst going through that process.

Coaches are employed to coach.

Footy directors / Presidents / Clubs recruit.

At least that's how I've operated.

I reckon the Marion coach has been there for quite a while, and it's been doing the rounds that he wasn't going on in 2025. Maybe he's had enough for a while, not sure?

True, but you see plenty of ads for coaches talking about being able to recruit as well

I would say coaches would assist in recruiting. If they know good people who they can bring to the club then surely that benefits everyone

On the workload, its almost more of player management these days and are basically on call 24 hours a day. The tues / thurs / sat parts are the easiest

No - and you just need to look at the amount of clubs that end up promoting B grade coaches from within, to see this is the case

7 Years and is leaving the club in a fantastic place. 1 game from Div 4.
The club from the outside seems to have plenty of juniors and a good female program.

Hopefully for the Rams it continues upwards.

There's some people on the club committee that have performed sensational work over the years, it's great to see!

Looks a below standard division based off this years results and if some of these clubs lose a few as is rumoured.

The two coming up from D6 may well find themselves right in the mix of B2B promotions.

if they go 3 in a row, is that worthy of relegation t-shirts?
