Overseas signings

Melbourne Stars: Ben Duckett, Tom Curran (pre-signed), Usama Mir
Melbourne Renegades: Laurie Evans, Jacob Bethell, Tim Seifert (pre-signed)
Sydney Thunder: Lockie Ferguson, Sam Billings (pre-signed), Sherfane Rutherford
Hobart Hurricanes: Shai Hope, Chris Jordan (pre-signed), Rishad Hossain
Adelaide Strikers: Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope (pre-signed), Fabian Allen
Brisbane Heat: Colin Munro (pre-signed), Paul Walter
Perth Scorchers: Finn Allen (pre-signed), Matthew Hurst, Keaton Jennings
Sydney Sixers: James Vince (retained), Akeal Hosein (pre-signed), Jafer Chohan

Who's gonna get the Big Show?

Assuming you mean Maxwell, he's still contracted to the Stars.

Akeal Hosein is a very good pick up for the Sixes, effectively replaces O'Keefe who has retired. Hosein leaving makes the Renegades list look even thinner than it was.

JFM and Brown is a good opening partnership but they will be chasing 250 each game that Zampa doesn't play

Ben Manenti
Brendan Doggett
Conor McInerney
Daniel Drew
Harry Conway
Harry Nielsen
Henry Hunt
Jake Lehmann
Jason Sangha
Lloyd Pope
Thomas Kelly
Wesley Agar

Even though there are twelve.

Would be close to it. Carey and Head missing from the best XI but they rarely play anyway

JFM not for mine, Johnson always injured

McAndrew is the only walk up starter missing

Good to see Drew (130 run out) and Hunt (77n.o.) amongst the runs early in the season.

158 for Hunt
130 for Drew

Manenti batting above Nielsen

The private player for QLD is 205cm Matt Willans

It's crap, no wonder we are shit, we don't even develop players by exposing them to second XI games, we give our first XI false pretenses that they are good.

This should be our development team not a trial match for our best side.

Not sure if that is sarcasm?

I’m more than happy for them to get as many trial matches in as possible

Already played 4 white ball trial matches v Queensland last week, split the results 2 each. The 5th looks to have been washed out as nothing entered in the scores.

This game is the first red ball match of the season and is being counted as round 1 of the 2nd XI competition.

Queensland club cricket starts at the beginning of September, and several of those guys have played a dozen or so games to date.

Meanwhile SACA ground staff are trying to work miracles getting turf wickets up and there is an expectation that we play a development team whilst our first choice players are yet to have a hit out in real match conditions. Next everyone would be complaining why they didn't have warm up games when we are bowled out for under a 100 round 1 of the Shield season. Ryan Harris is on a real hiding to nothing here!

Play the strongest side of those that spent the winter at home or the early part of the UK season. Picking a development side is for November when the Shield season is in full swing
