Adds up.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I think it was ‘88, anyway, we used to watch the VFL GF in the Adelaide Uni Bar. Someone had the bright idea that we’d draw a player number from a hat for both teams, and whoever we drew, we had to down a beer for every touch they had.

I drew no. 44 for the Hawks. I don’t remember the 2nd half, but I was told later that he had the most disposals in the match.

It could have been worse, we also had the goal umpires in the hat, so if you drew one of them, you were up every time they waved the flags.

One year too early, 89 he didnt touch when he was concussed early

Only ever had a minor interest in the VFL. Was a Carlton supporter in the late 70's due to them being the blues. Rick Davies went to Hawthorn for a year so followed them, the back to Carlton because of Peter Motley. Then pretty much any non Victorian team starting with Sydney, then West Coast & then finally the team for all South Australians :D

Born in 1981, I loosely followed West Coast until the Crows came in because they copied West Torrens colours and mascot. I quickly ditched them at the end of 1990.

Went to the first game the Crows played vs Hawthorn and it was a natural progression from following State of Origin to following the Crows. We moved to the Yorke Peninsula in 1991, so followed from afar. It really did seem like the Crows had captured the imagination of the whole state though. The last year before we moved back to Adelaide, the club I played junior colts for merged to become the CMS Crows.

I remember attending the first Showdown, not 100% sure what team I’d go for. Despite Port winning, it was quite clear I couldn’t barrack for them, even if they weren’t the Magpies any more. So the Crows it definitely was. Mainly on TV while attending Eagles games. 1997 and 1998 were glorious. 1997, still a kid watching at home with Mum and Dad. 1998, still a kid, but watching at a friends house with beer. What a long time ago…

I’ve attended as a Crows season ticket holder since 2015. The SANFL’s decision to bring AFL Reserves in just didn’t sit right. Combined with a move to the Hills and a growing family, it became much easier to follow the AFL. If I had to choose between a WWT Eagles premiership and a Crows premiership, I’d still go with Eagles and it has been tempting to ditch the Crows season ticket the last few years!

My Poppa’s side of the family settled in Hawthorn during the Gold Rush era, building houses. A number of long lost cousins, and my Aunty, are still Hawthorn because of this, but after the 2012 Prelim, I can’t stand them. A great uncle apparently played for South Melbourne, and Mum’s from Sydney, but they were more likeable during the Paul Kelly era than the concession era.

I would not call myself a rusted on loyal supporter, but the Crows it is. God help South Australian football.

Friday night footy with the likes of Matty Larkin, John Fairley, Mark Roberts, Krakouer brothers, Peter German, Jose Romero, Ross Smith etc made me fall in love with the club back in the mid/late 80's

Same here, they were my initial team, the club I played for had the same guernseys too so that made a difference.

Blighty coaching Geelong switched me as did the introduction to Gary Ablett, was a bit of a Bruce Lindner fan too, loved how he could kick the ball a mile.

Just a parishioner in following GOD, loosely followed from late 80s
Mainly because you need to have a team in every sport/league.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!
