Good game of footy, Sturt were gallant but Flagelg just too strong. I can’t see either remaining opponent being able to curtail their star forwards, especially once Hosie’s back.

Settle down spermy, Bays need to make the granny first, plus the Legs are unbackable faves.

Glenelg got more production from more players.
Sturt rely so much on their big three.

Yep.

So I was wrong (again). Forecast a 1978 repeat, with the colours swapped, then thought it could be a repeat of 1976, when Sturt won the flag after losing the Qualifying, but they ended up doing a Glenelg in 1980.

Don’t think a choke per say, they turned up both weeks, just beaten by better opponents.

Really good second half. Scoreboard didn't reflect at 3qtr time how good we were, but the dam burst in the last. All players ran the game out and heaped the pressure onto a wilting Strut Sets outfit.

And in 1993 and 99 (were three goals up going into time on against the legs)

Oh and Sturt in 1982… 8)

Last five times we’ve won a 1st Semi. We’ve made the GF
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

One of Sturt's most disappointing finals exits in their proud history.

Missed out on the 2024 minor premiership by just 1.2%.
Entered the major round on a 13-game winning streak.

Plenty of talent in the Sturt team evidenced by 6 Sturt players named in the 2024 SANFL Team of the Year.

Cruising to victory in the third quarter of the Qualifying Final against CD - a side that had lost their previous 8 clashes against Sturt.

Last quarter CD kick 5 goals to Sturt zip and now at 3/4 time of today's 1st Semi Final, Sturt lead Glenelg by a goal.

So, in the last quarter Glenelg kick 6 goals to another Sturt goalless 4th quarter.

Sturt out in straight sets due to 4th quarter performances best described as MIA or AWOL.

I always thought the straight sets departures of 1975 and 1982 (Jack Oatey's last year) were pretty bad but I think 2024 wins.

This team was flag favourite 4 weeks ago and now goes into the history books ranked 4th for 2024.

Hate to break it to you, but they weren’t good enough. Just like the Eagles weren’t last week, and whoever loses out of the Bays and Dogs next week, whilst the winner will deserve their spot in the GF with Norwood.

Norwood have long been flag faves, unless you believed the good natured banter here. They were minor premiers. In any case, the ‘flag favourite’ mantle is meaningless.

The number of wins in the minor round is completely meaningless, all it does is get you one of the spots in the finals, when the real season starts.

If you insist in dwelling on disappointments, then 1978 should easily rank as no.1, when Sturt only lost to West in the minor round and were infamously 29 points up on Norwood at 3/4 time.

I could try to list all of the Bays’ wasted seasons, but the list would be far too long to recite.
