Yeah real good points BPBRB,

Though North remind me alot of Central at the end of 2002, After Central lost that GF they had numerous starting 21 players leave 5-6 by my memory, but the club had faith in the reserves guys who had been an extremly successful team with players including P.Thomas, R.Cochrane, E.Sansbury, Y.Sibenaler who were not league regulars at that stage.

We then brought in 2 new guys just to add freshness to the squad and bang 2003 was another great year and set us on the road to glory for years to come.

I think there is alot of likeness between the Central squad at end of 2002 and North at end of 2007. And maybe North will unsettle this swuad a little to much when they have plenty of talent at there doorstep already.

I would argue that Centrals depth at that time was better in terms of age, body size etc than North have presently but you do make some good points. We have blooded quite a few younger players in the last 2 years but to replace experience like the 4 outs so far means adding experience otherwise we could slip back a little. You also have to remember that Wintle, White, Younie and Ladhams are all likely to go by the end of 2008 so even more experience to replace, so better off stating to top up/replace now.

1 Wintle
2 White
3 Walker
4 Weatherly

I dont know there ages but geezzzzzz getting these 4 on the park on a regular basis is a magic act

 They all start with W

The over paid physio "guru" at Prospect has alot to answer for IMO re player rehab and recovery and whilst the players may not publically say it they will be glad when he leaves North (rumoured to be very shortly)!

Yeah thats the exact issue Central will be facing in the next two years. Realistically by the end of 2009 these players may have left us.
C.Gowans
J.Gowans
M.Slade
D.Schell
A.Switala
J.MacKenzie

They will be very very hard to replace, thats why im slightly worried when Roy says we won't really be active recruting wise this year. I think we still need to add one or two more young recruits like O'Sullivan, Lawry, Grima to cover when all these players call it a day.

Plus young guys such as Dutscke, Hayes, Ware and Obst may be slightly complacent winning so much so early in there career thats why the clubs depth and ability to have players fighting for positions will be critical this year.

I thought Weatherly had degenerative athritis and had been advised by doctors not to play again? Has he chosen to go against their orders does anyone know?

He got a second opinion and it's not as bad as first thought. He is going to do a modified pre-season and he should be right for season 2008.

Oh thats really good news isnt it! Although i think that him and alleway do need to start communicating in the fwd lines, all i would see them do (the few games that owen did play) is crash into each other while both flying for screamers. But that is not what this topic is about

Maybe the great fwd line coach could teach them that!!!

Anyway correct about North, reserves win 2 of last 3 premeirships, and they have to keep recruiting!! Maybe the rumour is right, some good young lads could be looking elsewhere..
Club should show some faith, only 3 yrs ago they won U15, U17, U19, and ressies flags... Would have thought there might be some talent there to work with..

Yeah, lets just leave everything up to the juniors and not recruit anyone. Rehn did this at Westies after 2003 and that's worked out well hasn't it

I have it on very good authority that Daniel Ward (Melbourne) will join his mate Nathan Brown at WAFC. Should be announced soon.
There is only one team I love as much as the Double Blues, the Double Blues Reserves.......

Dash, I've seen nothing yet to suggest Dutchke is a loose cannon. He doesn't seem to even give away many frees despite going in at 100 miles an hour to win the ball. Probably likely though to have some serious injury concerns later on in his career simply because of the way he goes at it. But will be something in the meantime.

Whufc, you're talking about losing half a dozen players in the next 3 years, that's only a couple of retirees a year. I've been looking at our team for next year, and at this stage we're losing only Slattery apparently, while Griffin and Symes will probably play most of the year in the AFL. We are looking at gaining Faulkner, Dew and Cowan. To be honest, I think we'll be struggling to give everyone a game considering there are some guys in the reserves that are coming up through the system. Guys like Hadden, Williams, Spurr, Giles, Musolino, Wilson, the Westhoff boys, Goodrem, Pfitzner, and the usual surprise packet would all like their chances of cracking the league team. If we go after big name recruits we surely have to expect them to play league, but will we really find anyone who is that much better?
