Its a solid resume.

Coached his first Div 1 A grade Woman's flag on the weekend. That makes 6 Senior A grade Premierships in the 20 years. You can throw in 4 more GF's on top of that. Has Coached Juniors every year and volunteers his time in every capacity.

For all his on field success its the msn off the field that is the most impressive. I cant even count the favours, appearances and support he has given me in the last 2 decades. He is a genuine legend.

I stood outside the theatre in Semaphore in 2012 as he was doing the Guernsey presentation for the State Gaelic Under 18s that night. (again for no charge). We had just lost the Div 3 Prelim to SMOSH and the C3 Prelim to CBC. He told me that night he was leaving and going to where it all started at Hope Valley....that was until the wife and kids said "good luck we are not coming!" and the rest is history. Back to Back Premierships the following 2 years and the ascension to a Div 1 powerhouse.

What makes Garry so great is it is all about family and his Mrs runs the canteen or the bar as has his Daughter, his son is a great Junior Coach and life member as a player, his Sister did the merch, his brother in law a junior coach and his late Father was always there supporting them all, telling it like it was.

in summary....yeah he goes alright.

That is brilliant, as is everything else I've ever heard about him,

It's an even better read if you read it using a Morgan Freeman voice in your head.

I know a lot of clubs have that person who just goes above and beyond to ensure their club runs smoothly but as I said there just isn’t anyone that I have come across that has had a greater impact in grassroots footy. Macca always has time to have a chat to opposition coaches. He also doesn’t do it for the sake of it, when you are talking to him he actually gives a shit, which makes him an even better bloke.

Seemed like a quick appointment. Only advertised a week or so ago and already announced. Assume he was already sealed before the advert went out.

Sounds like the Redbacks - they searched the country, only to end up with their assistant coaches!

Huge first week of finals this week. It looks straight forward to me with Port and Golden Grove being the form teams and too strong on paper....but alas Div 1 has thrown up all sorts and i wouldn't be surprised if one of them goes the other way.

GG v PNU @ Harpers
Great ins for PNU in the form of McKenzie and Giannini
The Kookas also get back Lenny Pascoe from helping Port secure their first wooden spoon in over a century ;) . Whatever ailment Pitman picked up last week he has been named and is good to go.
The Falcs beat them twice this year and will go in with some confidence. Thatcher on Cristancig is one of the pivotal battles. The on-ball battle probably the most relevant though to deciding the winner
Grove 13-24

SHOC v Port @ Senior School
Both teams look full strength with the only notable omission being the Heff who wont play again this year due to being rubbed out i am told.
Port took care of them twice in season. easily early in the year and by a narrow margin towards the back end.
Too many weapons for Port for mine and despite SHOCs win last week form lines going in different directions. Sacred Heart will give them a scare but Ports experience should see them get the chocolate's
Port 13-24

Should both be crackers. If you cant get to the game or the game your at sucks then go onto the Adelaide Footy League Facebook Page and get the link to the live streams. I reckon both games will be a good watch.

Districts doing a real number on SHOC 7 goals up late in the 3rd and Golden Grove kicking themselves out of it, a goal down but have kicked 3.14

Thanks Yank. I just had a look. Too bad i cant tip for shit :D

The crew do an amazing job and i play a very small part. Multiple cameras, boundary rider, editor, producer and a lot of editing and some per records all go into it. The fact the Coaches give us access and the sponsors and commercials are done professionally does make it a lot more watchable theses days.

It was horrid conditions but a great game of finals footy still ensued.

Looking forward to Glenunga v Port next week. Thats going to be massive.

I think you're on the money Wristy. I reckon Davis has had an even better season this year and with some change of personnel in the Glenunga team, has been more of a stand-out. And Nunn for runner-up would be no surprise.

I agree, DTH. The signing of Jordan West has been a boost for the Rams and has enabled Abe to shine even more.

Great work, Wristy. Spot on again (except your runner-up!). Abe was a clear winner, from last year's Div 2 medallist, Jake Pitman.

Then there were 4

Glenunga v Port @ Webb
Glenunga 13-24

SHOC v PNU @ SHOC
Sacred Heart 1-12

The other Div 1 relevant game is ROCS v Raggies @ X-Convenience Oval
I'm tipping the upset and taking Athlestone 1-12
