He's earned the right to call time on his terms.

Totally disagree. No defensive pressure whatsoever. Absolute liability when the ball hits the deck, the Crows aren’t really serious about looking forward & this proves it, again. He doesn’t allow Thilthorpe & Fogarty to stand on their own two feet when he’s playing.

Has Tex rocked your roof or shat in your letterbox?

He's still in their best 22.

But that doesn't mean it's the right thing to play him and hinder the progress of the players who are the future

Fair to say I don't own any Walker memorabilia but why not keep him on? He's still their best key forward and it's up to Fogarty and Thilthorpe to take that mantle off him, it's not up to him or the club to hand it over and whether he's 26 or 34 with a dodgy back they need to push him aside. The test is facing the two young blokes, not Walker.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Came here to say this. Anyone banging on about Fogarty's progress needs a mirror, the bloke has been there since 2018 and still looks overweight.

Walker is 34, going on 35, so you would expect his defensive side to be minimal, like Hawkins for Geelong. What's Fogarty's excuse?

According to Neil Craig, Walker never had a defensive side hence why he refused to play him.
I would play him for another year.

Was probably right.

Tex didn't need to be defensive was apparently BOG at CHF for a Broken Hill inter league game when he was 16.

Can clearly remember Sturt defenders harassing him in a final for Norwood at Adelaide Oval. He'd been worked out that a bit of physicality and no defensive side took him out of the game.

Kicked 76 goals in season recently and is still reasonably serviceable, so he deserves to be on a year to year contract. Only needs one bad injury, and it's over.

Was BOG in the A grade grand final, kicked 7 as a 16 year old at CHF.

Also the youngest bloke since Ken Farmer to kick 50 in a season in the SANF, yet couldn't get an AFL game because he couldn't lay a tackle...

You could literally apply that statement to any aging player in their last year. There's always a young guy looking for a chance, doesn't mean you have to gift it.

Sam Mitchell one of the coaches of the year, you could argue 'gifted' games to develop his list

Hardly had anyone like Walker on his list. Could say Frost would be closest, but again, if the key defenders aren't developing, Frost keeps playing. It's pretty simple I think.

Just brilliant if you ask this little red car. Would have the 6 or 7 most improved players in the league.

Any news on getting some proper footy dept structure behind Nicks so he's half a chance?

Reid, Kelly and Ogilive getting asked the hard questions? Do they have a forward line coach yet.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Scott has him covered. Our team is a burger with no Patty. Heaps of of top bun old guys, a few bottom bun younger blokes but not many in the prime beef zone. (Not sure where the * goes to in that comment tbh). 3rd spot with a towering ruck division of an over the hill Stanley, Blicavs, the wrong DeKonning and Toby 'not ready' Conway with our star player tagged back to the stoneage and Cameron stinking it up this year. But here we are! Scotty is a genius..even more so if we jag the win.
