The more important question is where are they getting their money? Wealthy sponsors?
Valente $25k, Andrews $20k, now Turley $12k. They are the well known ones, do Conway, Benton, Greber etc get coin too?
They should be made to put that money towards their Juniors so they don’t forfeit the Under 12’s again or their Whites teams
I heard from someone at Uni that Greber was getting $15K. The pokies at Alberton Hotel must be doing well!! I'm sure the rest of the players are playing for the love of the club

One day comp looks like only two rounds? Bit bizarre. Assume QF, SF etc on Sundays in Jan/Feb but tough to make top 8 if lose one of your games

The SACA don't want 2 divisions long term. They wanted to reduce the number of premier cricket teams, and clearly this was not going to happen under current arrangements.
So, they created an environment where poorly managed clubs would essentially self-destruct (not my words) by making a mess of recruitment (dollars) and losing their core group of players and transition themselves to a community club (and eventually merge).
Do premier cricketers really want to be playing against 16/17-year-olds in division 2? No, they are out of there.
I am told they are surprised it has happened so quickly and do not see 2 divisions being required in 3-4 seasons.
There is no future in SACA funding being used to recruit players who will never play first class cricket or paying for overseas imports in division 2. We are already seeing a decline in pathways.

I saw a bit of the Drew/Manenti partnership and then flicked on again when Nielsen was in the 40's and Drew on 129 (off 129 balls). Nielsen was hitting them beautifully and Drew anchored the innings superbly and adds more early season runs to set himself up for a good First Class season. Not much fun for the bowlers on Park 25 #2. Mackenzie Harvey hit 159 for Sturt but the rest left some runs out there.
Convincing wins to Port over Prospect and Glenelg over Southerns in the other Sunday games.
East Torrens scored a mammoth 5-374 on Saturday on the back of Ryan King's 181 off 103 balls! Adelaide never in despite a century to Khan, making 305. Tea Tree Gully easily accounted for Port on Saturday, another big total, 5-311 with Jackson scoring 102 off 79 balls. Barrett and Wadia doing the job with the ball for TTG, both taking 4 wickets to dismiss Port for 215. Uni (2-161 - Adair 102 off 60) easily beat Woodville after bowling them out for 158 on the back of 4 wickets to opener Yadav. Kensington 8-306 did enough to defeat Northern Districts, who were bowled out for 283 in the 49th over, having set themselves up nicely early in the run chase on the back of Cahill's 91 off 50.
The One Day competition is short and sharp and sees just the 3 Rounds, and 2 games for each team, before heading into a top 8 knockout format. So every game this season has something on the line. Calculators will be out for Round 3, 1 win and a NRR above Port's 0.05 should be enough to get through.
After 2 Rounds
1 Glenelg 1W-0L 3.89NRR (last game vs WT)
2 Uni 1-0 3.5NRR (SD)
3 TTG 1-0 1.92NRR (ND)
4 ET 1-0 1.38NRR (Pros)
5 Kens 1-0 0.46NRR (Wood)
6 WT 1-0 0.11NRR (Glen)
7 Port 1-1 0.05NRR (Bye)
8 Sturt 0-1 -0.11NRR (Adel)
9 ND 0-1 -0.46NRR (TTG)
10 Adel 0-1 -1.38NRR (Sturt)
11 Pros -2.68NRR (ET)
12 Wood -3.5NRR (Kens)
13 SD -3.89NRR (Uni)

Whether anyone on here can confirm but I heard that clubs receive payment (per game) from SACA for any player from their club who is picked in the U/19 Div 2 team?

Jake FM at West Torrens training last night and actually went up to club volunteers to introduce himself rather than wait to be approached, commendable. He will be playing against port this Saturday and Glenelg in the one dayer on Sunday.
