I agree with most of this post, however he is a better than average player that hasn't grown up yet in my opinion.

Id have him sit with Rory Sloane for his game reviews.
Show him some of his (Sloane's )selfless efforts and hope to Christ something rubs off on him.

As for Rachele, he's just a young dumb bloke, he had 10 disposals and 3 of them were clangers, his best footy is very good but it's few and far between, not to mention that he absolutely shits himself when there's a contest.

I doubt we would be seeing these if we were only in front, in a game by a nose, and sitting 14th on the ladder... the celebrations are a product of the success, not a product of imaginary success.... or the need to be some psuedo tough guy. The bloke jumps at his own shadow.

I hope to see some goal celebrations this September. If we do, we are on the right path.

I love how it's a group of kids gelling together, having fun together and enjoying the journey together as a group, they're a very likable group.

Obviously to a lesser degree but I've captained, coached or both over a dozen cricket premierships, my main focus pre-match was about enjoying what you do and the mateship that comes along with it, it's a great foundation for success.

There is definitely a disconnect between the laws of the game stating a bump is legal yet the interpretations the tribunals especially in incidents where there is no high contact.

With that said i can completely understand why the AFL is as strict as it is. We all know the damage caused by concussion. Then the most irking one for me is when people say 'todays players are soft etc'. We know when it comes to car crashes its the size and speed that does damage, its no different on a football field. 90% of footballers these days are 6ft monsters who run like the wind with barely an inch of fat on them, their not smoking darts at half time etc. Even Houston is 6ft 1, 88kg (apparently) and would have body fat % under 10. His a machine!

Personally i think we are now at a point in the game where the AFL just needs to start cutting the 'grey areas' out. Potentially the only answer is that the bump is illegal and that tackling is the only legal action when 'attacking' a player with the ball. It would take a generation to come to fruition and maybe that would happen naturally anyway. Do juniors practice bumping, cant say ive seen our juniors practicing it?
