The player had surgery, jaw broken in 3 places, havent seen the incident so wont comment

Just watched again in slow motion (100.35 mark)

I reckon old mate's season is over, a right to the jaw is a terrible look...

Season probably over but not sure it's the worst thing i've seen. Rough conduct moreso than striking, appears to hit the body then slips up - surprised it resulted in a broken jaw to be honest.

Therein lies the problem with the swinging arm. He may not have intended to hit him high, but he did, even if it did slip up.

Hard case to defend, players really have taken nothing from the Andrew Gaff incident.

Watched it in slow motion also. Seems the "swinging arm" is from the Broadies player behind him. Hard to distinguish either way. Hope the lad is ok - had one of those injuries before, it aint nice

Are you watching the vision on an old Nokia? Broadview player is a couple of metres behind the SHOC player. First things first - Broadview needs to lodge a club report before the matter even gets looked at. If that occurs then I don't envy the job of those who stand in judgement. It's a tough one to analyse.

Have another watch, the player behind him is a step or two behind the SHOCs player

Like i said, its subjective to who is looking at it with no clear cut vision. The umpire was right there and no Broadies player remonstrated after. I dont care either way just saying its subjective.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me, the SHOC bloke whacks the Broadview bloke, breaks his jaw, ergo plenty of weeks

Haha cute list. at least 1 and 2 are probably spot on.

- Lycett is 3rd on reputation but is very much the third best ruckman on form in the comp based on any measure
- Sam Gray is having by far the leanest of his 3 seasons and as such Port are 4th. Love the guy and his best is brilliant but not even in team of the year at this stage
- Lachy McNamara is one of my favourite players to watch but hasn't played in a month
- Alex is a star and a great Coach but not sure he is in the top 5 players at SHOC this year.

McKenzie deserves to be in there and is the only defender
A couple of mid forward but not one forward line player in a comp where scoring goals is very tough
Joe Haines should 100% be in there and well ahead of his two more famous team mates

Is this a Dan "Elizabeth will win the flag" Renfrey or a Shadti "Drug swabs found in public toilets" Neverheardofthem article by any chance? :D

Renfrey.

His adulation of Lycett is bleedingly obvious, gets a mention any time Port Districts get reviewed

The ones they did a few years ago supposedly asked coaches in each league to nominate players, at least that had a smidge of thought behind it

Yeah a bit of research does help as we all know the big names. Look its not the worst list i have seen but looks a lot like a list that anyone on the Payneham balcony could throw together.

Its a fair improvement on tipping a team to finish third and having them lose in round 1 by 57 goals and round whtever it was by 500 points :D

Any list that guy puts together is garbage.
No research at all is ever done.
He regularly gets names & pictures wrong. A total waste of time reading them.

Cheers Chappy.

Just out of interest. This years Team of the half year picked in consultation with the Coaches had 5 (In the starting 18) of the top 10 list in it. Throw in 3 blokes who played AFL, a Playing Coach and a 2 time medalist and hey presto.

I don't subscribe so cant see it but perhaps if it wasn't called - The Advertiser's Top 10 Div 1 players so far this season
Maybe if it was - The advertisers div 1 big name players list.... it might be more accurate

Here's a question - out of that 10 who would you take if you could only draft one player?

Abe Davis for me

Davis by a fair stretch for me. Nunn at age 28 would be second and has shown his impact at PNU

I say this with no inside knowledge but i would be flabbergasted if Abe is not Glenunga's next coach.

He would be worth about 50K if he was willing to exit and travel in 2025.

Should we start a footy club Jim and pay him in beers ;)
