Research on Game Day Experiences of Sports Fans in Australia

Postby theacademic » Thu Jul 11, 2024 8:45 pm

Dear All,

I am an academic at the University of South Australia and I am conducting some research on the game day experiences of sports fans in Australia. I would really appreciate a few minutes of your time to complete an anonymous and confidential survey I have compiled:

https://doit.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form ... ezQZlnOHtQ

It should take you around 10 minutes to complete and has been approved by the ethics committee at the University of South Australia. All of these details are listed on the participant information sheet located at the start of the survey.

I thank you in advance for your time.

Started it. Had to stop. Fundamentally flawed.

There is no such game as AFL. Ditto for NRL and A league.

These sports are Australian Rules Football, Rugby League and Soccer.

Yep.

Not the point though.

The researcher has confused leagues with sports.

That means that Australian Rules Football et al are grouped in with ten pin bowling, archery, bowls, skateboarding, lacrosse, hockey, darts, eight ball, box etc.

Think you will get accurate results through this?

It is far more important to get it right than to like someone’s post in a feeble effort to suggest that fixes it.

It is flawed. Full stop.

I take back my negative comments and support for DOC's statement, after completing the quiz @theacademic is actually asking if I attend AFL(mens) not if I attend general Aussie Rules.

I do support DOC's view in general when people don't reference the sport correctly, i don't think this was the case on this occasion.

I was going to say that it will teach me to shoot my mouth off without checking first, but it probably won't.

That's how I took it, it asked about competitions not sports so I added SANFL in the "other" sections and answered all my questions as if I was attending a SANFL game

I certainly hope the researcher understands the difference between sports (Australian Football) and competitions (AFL) otherwise he might not have got very far at the UniSA Underdale campus back in the day.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
