This was back in the day when I reckon 75% drank schooners, 20% pints & 5% butchers. Not like today where it’s pretty much only pints being poured. Bar staff have it f#cking easy these days…

The schooner fascination is a weird one.

Lots of guys at the Spalding pub still drink schooners, reckon it would be 50/50 with pints. I've never seen that before.

Eagle Blue? Don’t mind if I do, thanks Dipper! 8)

Nah I stuck pretty much with “Best end of the day” WED

My old man and his mates were all over it though when it came out* and yeah he drank way more schooners than pints in his drinking career.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Folks still drank butchers in the 90s?

Only time I've seen one (outside my grandfather's house, he had a boxful of 'em) was when I did a bar and waiting course. They made us practice pouring into butcher glasses on the pretext that it was more of a challenge. I suspect it was really 'coz they didn't want us skolling pints. Drinking the pour was obligatory. 8)

Just cast an idle glance at the label on the bottle of red wine which is currently sliding down the gullet.

Apparently it has notes of plum and chocolate.

Heaven help me - I'm drinking frickin' fruchocs!

Didn't get to BWS for the Guinness :(
But did pop out a Stout with chocolate grain homebrew for a taste test.

Noticed tonight, while shopping for Friday beers, that the James Squire range now comes in 330 ml bottles. They used to be 345 ml. Price rise by stealth?

Of course there is no real excuse for not producng 375ml stubbies * in the first place.

A bloke left a couple of Coronas here after a barbie more than a year ago.

Had a lemon in the fruit bowl for a couple of weeks and thought I'd better use it or chuck it out.

Got no other beer in the fridge ... so what the hell, put the Coronas in the freezer for half an hour. Sliced the lemon, cracked a Corona and slid it down the neck.

I gotta admit, it is going down a treat. What is an otherwise unremarkable beer is enhanced by the lemon.

But then that says something about the beer itself, don't it. Can't see myself buying a six pack in preference to a beer that doesn't require a citrus fruit to make it palatable.
