That is why the system needs to change, being able to use 15 4th round picks to pick up a player that would have gone top 10, let alone potentially 2 in this situation, is wrong. If a player is bid on then the club should have to use at least 1 pick in the round they were bid on to get them and once they are past their first pick then all bets should be off. Personally I think they should do away with academy picks and Father Son, both undermine the whole purpose of the draft in the first place.
I do agree they should have more than a couple of months warning though but when have the AFL ever made a well balanced intelligent decision this century.
