I think this is the first time I have ever started an AFL thread.

Tell me more about that 2016 Mambre Brook.....

Excellent. Had two glasses which means I will have two tonight to help me with the football. Not sure who is playing but I’m thinking it may be Collingwood as the AFL made them travel last week. Not sure if they know who they are dealing with.

Drinking beautifully, rich, full and smooth. I buy both the cab and Shiraz upon release and cellar until around this age.

Barossa Cabernet is still one of my favourites.

Only watched bits and pieces, but the best part about the umpiring was they were prepared to call ball-ups far quicker and then get in there and throw it up straight away. The players seemed to cotton on and both the tackler and tacklee at times stopped expecting the whistle, and that's fine if they get the game going quickly again.

Geez how the media and fans turn on a club quickly, they are still 8-4, I reckon you would have taken that as a Port fan.

From a Crows supporter over the last 7 years, or a North supporter, absolutely should be stoked with that record as we are used to losing, but Port supporters can see through this win/loss as they see it every year and fail on the big stage. Seems to be happening again this year (except for Geelong in Geelong but then again, they are getting beaten regularly now).

The win over Geelong and the loss to Adelaide probably out of turn, would have seen it the other way round at the start of the year and no surprise in the losses to Melbourne, Collingwood or Carlton, failing in the genuine games again.

They start favs in 5 of their next 6 games imo, should probably be 13-5 and top 4 if they play well during this period, they have a tough last 3 games but they have a good platform towards the finals here

Probably will be, there's enough evidence to suggest that once again we'll win enough minor round games to be in or around the top 6, perhaps top 4 but that's not where the test lies for this group under Hinkley. It's in the last month against quality opposition when we know what will unfold again.

Rozee in that side makes a huge difference.

I also think that when he comes back, he, Butters and All Australian, Brownlow and Club best and fairest, in waiting, JHF will give the delivery that Ports forwards need and have missed in their last two losses.

This is the most defeatist post I've ever seen from you... :shock:

The biggest worry for Port is the amount of injuries they have had as the season goes on. Anyone who has done a hammy or calf before knows you can be back playing in 4-5 weeks, but the reality is that it can linger, fatigue late in games, make backing up harder and hinder training during the week for an extra month as well.

Indeed it is and the metrics the board and football department look at when deciding to reappoint the coach all point to him doing the job he is asked to do, make finals first and give the side the opportunity to win finals. That has been achieved by way of top 4 finish 3 of the last 4 years.

But is that where the measure ends? Seems so.

( Along with other metrics like debt reduction, membership numbers, social media engagement, sponsorship dollars etc and the club has more positives than negatives to keep the status quo )

Disagree - they'll be Minor Premiers;
Then, out in straight sets;
Hinkley will get re-appointed after the first final;

again

Unless we win a flag, this will be Ken's last coaching contract at Port.
