He has been quoted as saying he won't give it up, will need to be delisted.

Silvers stated in February the crows were going to play finals this season.

2 months later he is blaming the list.

Silvers now saying Nicks is safe and the man to lead the crows to their next Premiership

History tells us what those statements usually mean ;)

Not necessarily a bad thing, has a passion to play for the club. No doubt when the time comes it will be communicated as a retirement, but behind closed doors it will be the club telling him his time is up, not the other way around.

When you're on the sort of coin that these blokes are on, there's no shame in milking the most you can out of it. I suspect most of us would do the same thing.

I suspect the club will pay him to the end the year even if he does retire mid season

Easy bloke to admire and a shame he's having to call it a day because of injury and not in his terms.

Every team would love a Sloane on their side.
As courageous as they come!

Good on him for making the best decision for himself and his family

Awesome player and seems similar bloke.
I remember when he first played for North Adelaide under the old mini draft and even as a kid he was going in harder for North than seasoned North players, earnt our admiration immediately and we knew he was a gun there and then.

This really saddens me, he was my dads favourite player and I had the utmost admiration since dads passing, every time I hear his name I think of the old man, every time I see him do something brilliant I can visualise my dads smile.

Footy is deeper than your own colours, the game has been better for having Sloane in it.

I hope he has a big future in whatever he takes on next.

One of my fave crows of all time. Champion. Sad he didn't get to go on his own terms

Every club would love a Rory.
Could do it all.
My lasting memory was bashing into Dangerfield his first game for the cats against Adelaide.
He showed his true professionalism in that instance. Best mates but I'm going to take you out kinda attitude.
And it was a car crash collision that both got up from. No idea how,it was brutal.
Loyal, courageous and skillful. Enjoy retirement Sloaney.

Sloaney....universally loved.

The kind of player you feel would have succeeded in any era of football but felt like more of a 90's style player which was always great to watch.
