Saturday Stableford 32 points.

Tee to green was good, actually off the tee i was really good, but approach shots were just 'ok' but always just on the edges of greens hence having 34 putts, yep 34!

i've always said, I shouldn't be having more than 27 id like to think i can 1 putt 9 holes.

I will address the Elephant in the room straight up........ no I didn't have one.

Its a ******* long way from my place. 1Hr; 35Mins. In light traffic. 7.30 am tee time. Out of bed 4.30am Sunday, left home at 5.15am.

Opening few holes, gentle, even friendly. The first thing that strikes me is the size of the greens. They are massive. A couple of bogey's to start, should have made par out of one of them.

3rd hole - long par 3 to a massive 2 tiered green. One of the guys in my group has a rangefinder. Pin set on top tier, its 207 to the flag!
4th hole, another par 3 a bit more reasonable at 137 from the Blue markers.
5th hole 348M par 4. I find both fairway & green in reg for a par. 6th hole bogey. Not much to report on holes 7, 8 & 9.... not many points that's for sure. A few poor swings kreeping in though. So far hardly a breathe of wind. A few holes, the black championship tees are well behind where we are playing from. So it's not playing all that long. Typical resort type golf.

Things change on the back 9. Wind picks up & the course gets considerably harder. The par 4 - 15th hole, the #1 rated hole in particular. Hit off from an elevated tee (great ocean views, and of the National course next door), to a fairway sloping left to right. Then an uphill approach that has to be seen to believe it. What a hole. Only 318M but plays so much harder than that. The last 3 holes no scores recorded. I am hitting a few good shots, but by this stage cannot string 2 good, or even Ok shots together.

So while I take out the NAGA on the day, I still enjoyed the round, and hit a few decent shots along the way.

Just have to keep working on the game, it will come back.

Golf was just fair.
Course is in really good nick.
Greens recovering from being cored probably few weeks back. And were quick yet some downhill putts somehow stopped
Highlight was hitting a nice drive on 17th. 55m down hill fairway lie. Pulled out new 7wood and run it down the hill only for it to lip out for a 2

Flaggy this morning

weather was a little fresh, there was some slight precipitation early. the breeze wasnt too bad.

Off the first and a little push, base of a tree, but we scrambled out with a par. birdie chip lipped out.
2nd was another push and again had to just punch low. bogey.
4th was slightly disappointing just a fraction, just off green in 2. first putt off the green just didnt go.... 2nd putt went past ... and thankfully sunk the 3rd for par
5th - cracking drive, left with a little chip over the front 2 bunkers. bladed it. back of the green for 2, not the worst spot to be in for 2. off the mound had to chip onto green - thats a tick, but the ball wouldnt stop - almost went in, but the greens are quick and away it rollls - 6...

fairly consistent all day.
Driver after the first 2 holes was really solid.
putting was good for me - 34

the only downside - on 17 - hit a lovely soft 6i baby draw. we all thought it was safe, but must have run into the rubbish on the left for a wipe

Driver was fairly solid again.
putting was it usual mediocre rubbish.
chipping around the greens was fairly good.
the 7wood was fairly handy again today. did top one but thats having the ball too far forward in my stance which is my bad habit.

Added the hybrid for 1st time in a long time and mixed results. But it may have a rest on Saturday as it's monthly medal.
7w was solid.
Putting was ok.

Took 6i off tee aside from 2 par 3s.
Beautiful baby draws.
7w did its job, used it a few times for 2nd shots. Did use it on the 14th which was 168m par 3

Back to it this week, after 2 months off, we head to McCracken on Sunday to play for the Brown Jacket, anyone been there lately? GOing to have to hit the range at some time this week.

Started off ok.
Get to the 5th and ended up near the 150m marker and with trees and branches, I punched a low 6i, tracking nicely and then duck
One of the bunkers in front of that green has been filled in. Used to bail out left but now there's no need.. anyway grabbed 2pts and moved along.
Get to 7th and my 7i is plugged into the wall of the bunker. About 2inches below the lip. Awkward stance and a swing in hope and popped it out nicely
15pts after 7 holes.

Great drive on the 8th. Left with 217m and went DOD again which has been useful lately.... but not last night. Got to pin high in 3 but down in the rubbish on the right and it was army golf from there around the green.

On the 9th
131m to middle. Choked down on 7i and absolutely flushed it.... it lands up on chipping green, smashes into the fence and then runs around the fence line to the left and finishes just off the chipping green down the bottom a startled mother and son wondered where it came from

31 Saturday. Played in the arvo. Somehow qualified for a side comp which is matchplay.
34 today. Driver had a fade to it which worked well. Get to 15th and aim down the left and hit it dead straight and found it... OB

McCracken was cold and initially wet on Sunday and I was worried about being rusty due to not touching the clubs for 2 months, that was dispelled early when a 15 foot putt went in for birdie on the 1st! Then went par, bogey, bogey and I got comfortable with the game, we know how that ends...yep triple bogey x2 time! Still walked off the 9th with 46 and 18 points and then a par on the 10th was the beginning of the end for the round with 4 straight scratches to follow, par on 18 helped make the beer taste a bit better as I carded 100 off the stick and 28 points.

Enjoyed the round and course, was in better nick then when I was down there last year, I love the variety of the layout, you certainly don't get bored out there

McCracken is a fantastic course IMO

Agree, Ive probably said this before but when it opened in the early 90's myself and 3 mates were founding members as it was $250 a year, we used to go down every 2nd Saturday and play in the comp, then head off to cricket in the arvo - oh to have that much energy again!

In its first few years it was pristine and a lot of the trees/shrubs were knee high. Only knock I have on it now is the kikuyu that has made the fairways patchy.

Its brilliantly designed, every hole seems to go in a different direction and tests you the whole way around. Its the only course Ive broken 80 on so very fond memories.

Going to do a weekend down there soon, stay on course and play a couple of rounds

Then wiped 15. Drive pulled left into trees but hit a nice 8i over trees. Top of the hill and then proceeded to butcher it wipe
Almost chipped in for birdie on 18 and walk away with bogey

Royal adelaide today.

Course is in great condition, albeit a little dry.
Greens didn't break nearly as much as I expected and were a little slower than the practice greens and I failed to adapt.
Driver was solid.
Only found a couple bunkers and got out easily enough.
