Victorian cricketer Will Pucovski has been forced to retire hurt after copping a sickening blow to the helmet during the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Hobart.

Facing Tigers fast bowler Riley Meredith on Sunday afternoon, Pucovski ducked into a bouncer before dropping his bat and collapsing onto the turf. The 26-year-old was in serious discomfort, retching on the deck as medics rushed onto the ground.

A few minutes later, Pucovski returned to his feet and gingerly walked off the ground while holding his head, retiring hurt for zero replaced by teammate Peter Handscomb.

“Will is currently in the hands of our medical professionals,” Cricket Victoria confirmed to Fox Cricket in a statement.

“We’ll look to provide an update in due course.”

Just watched the footage, took his eye off it, straight to the side of the helmet.

Time to hang up the bat young man. Sad, but has to happen.

Give it up son.
Cricket Victoria and CA need to take the decision out of his hands

It should be. But if not, someone really needs to teach him how to play the short ball. I've seen him get hit three times and not once did he have any idea what to do.

Pucovski has to give it away, first and foremost his health is more important than any game of cricket, secondly his technique is reflective of his repeated head knocks as anything short and he turns his head and doesn't watch the ball. This particular delivery wasn't particularly well directed, he dropped and turned into it.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Redbacks have to bat 90odd overs to secure a draw.

Can they do it?

Settle down everyone.. we all know the Redback will lose a couple quickly.. then build a strong partnership - draw will look likely, then suddenly in the last hour we will lose 5 for nothing and lose outright by an innings and 10 runs.
