Greg Phillips coaching at Virginia would be a waste of his time and Virginia's money. Sure he would get some interested locals at training to start with but as soon as he starts cracking the whip the number will drop off to their normal handfull during winter.

As someone who has played against the undisciplined rable from Ram park for many years, especially their sniping B graders, I cant see Big Kutchie making a difference as the few players he is able to bring with him wont make up for the rest of the clowns that play for them.

There is a good reason Virginia didn't have a comp to play in before the APFL foolishly let them in and the sooner they go back Elizabeth way the better!!!

Hazbeen - you're going to be stuck with Virginia for a long time yet.

There's nowhere else for them to go.

You're right there Dogwatcher, the APFL made a quick decision to get rid of the bye when Roseworthy College pulled out but we got it back when Pt Wakefield and Hummocks/Watchman merged, believe me if the players got a vote they would be out for sure.

I have personally seen and been involved in more dirty, cowardly or behind the play incidents involving Virginia than any other club in this or the 4 other leagues I have ever played in.

That seems to be they're specialty, they tend to treat new and fresh faces like kids getting a new toy, all exited till they get bored and then throw it in the box with the rest of the crap, I was there the night Gary Phillips came to town for the big visit, if the poor attendance that night wasn't a snippet of what was to come  and some that were there displayed embarasing behaviour, almost like he was the first person to step foot on the green stuff in a hundred years  the Warrick Capper attire brought a little bit of sick up myself   Other coaches have had the same fate Geoff Phillips will altimately suffer and so too will his replacement. An example, without getting into details, when Mr Stoke arrived on the scene he not only brought with him a fresh outlook and a few players as most coaches have there followers, like Gerry will, but it also brought the fortune of having some of the infrastructure at the club replaced. New coaches boxes, cleaning, maintanance was on offer absolutely free of charge or with trade of advertising  but alas, this fell by the way side simply cause it was not the VFC way. I think his replacement saw the light very early in his stint :? There are a few good locals there that are worth there wieght in gold by the mongs out number them 5:1

Hey, Hey, Hey the Rooster is back.

I've been for a brief sojourn overseas dudes and get back to find people having a crack at the Rams? Are you serious? was i on the money earlier on this thread? Suffice to say that i have said my piece on the Rams and that's done!!

Other news though cowboys? Has there been a walkout at Long plains? It may be a bit mischevious to suggest, but there are whispers in the wind that they be looking for a replacement coach, unsure of why, but thats the goss!!

Hah...........it's good to be back 8)
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

Could be on the money there Rooster, It would be in United's best interests to do what they can to re-sign broady, otherwise its another coach which would make 3 in 3 years? not good for any club.

No Torp it was normally me as a big fella giving the dirty little rams a touch up after they had sniped at our small or young blokes, Rams never tough enough to have a go at someone that might give them a belting. I played both 1's and 2's and the crap was not restricted to the magoos.

It will be interesting to see how Hummocks goes this year. They've had great success built on keeping junior players but are the crop that the premierships relied on getting old and the more recent less successful colts/new players coming through. Have to remember how good some Hommocks colts sides were in the nineties. Good to see their junior colts doing well and I think the cycle will continue. Fantastic example of how country footy ebbs and flows

I don't think that it is paying locals that does it. I doubt many get paid at all or if they do its bugger all. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing neither do you. What I think happened is that Hummocks had a run of luck getting gun junior players and maybe there's not enough coming through to replace it. Most have got years left but it's hard to say that they'll be as good as they were.

If the expected developments around pt Wakefield go ahead they should be right for the future, like you say the club is well run and gives the locals incentives to play and participate socially. I have no doubt they will be around the mark for many years to come. if not just merge with paskaville.
