Train on the oval before hand?

Going to clock up some miles this year going around and training on every oppositions ground the week of their game.

Granted I don't follow ASCA all that closely, and Sutton Derby sound like a difficult club based on that letter posted, however, I must admit without knowing the details, I can sympathise with them a little.

If it's their home fixture, and their ground (billabong oval) was available, why did the association move the game on them?
Why did the away team (ICC) get to request it being moved?

Sure, talk of training on an oval first, and fans at lower grade cricket, is clearly a long bow from the SD lads, but the underlying sense that they should be allowed to host their home game does seem reasonable.

Believe there were concerns around the ground having suitable facilities i.e. toilets

I heard Flaggies forfeit was due to 10 players going on a footy trip so may be a once off hopefully

Morphy Park had upwards of 16 players unavailable last round.
I was asked to be stand in captain of our 5th team.
We did whatever we could to fill our 5 teams, and honour our commitment to the competition.
Our team existed of myself 52yo, another old chum 53yo, and then all the rest were junior players ranging from 13 to 17yo.
We did our best, and played a very enjoyable opposition in Port Noarlunga who played in exceptional spirit.
Kudos to them, their players and captain Michael Mott.

It was good enough for Section 3 last year.

What a terrible look for the association.

How on earth can they permit a side into section 1, knowing their oval, then 3 days out from round 1, take the home game off them.

If I were on the board of the association I'd be embarrassed.

Hopefully there is more to it than what we know, otherwise it's hard to defend the executive here.

I visited Billabong Oval today as I was in the area. There’s parking a 100m walk away and toilets at the ground too. It’s quite picturesque. The ground is a bit weirdly shaped and the pitch isnt exactly in good nick but I have no issues playing there. However the fact that they just let a successful club like WYC go down two sections and put a completely unknown team in based on exaggerated truths, is a shambles.

Very quiet on the Sutton Derby front. Did they and their hordes of fans make it home safely from Hackham last week. Or did they book out all the hotels at Port Noarlunga and surrounds so they could have the opportunity to practice on the oppositions ground this week?

Hats off to Nathan Manly and Coromandel B grade lads today. Heard missing a few from A and B grade today and with us at 0/150 could of dropped their heads but to their credit had a fantastic attitude and had a crack all day. At the moment Section 2 is probably to high for them but they just get on with the game and give it everything. If only every club/teams had this attitude. Also happy to stay and have a beer after the game Cheers lads

Can’t believe one of their many supporters couldn’t pull on the whites today to help out the team. Huge crowd expected at “the billabong” next week when Coro play their first game. Big boy cricket might even be more ugly…
