I accidently wrote this another topic but would be best suited here

Would North Adelaide be interested in trying to nab Jason Torney away from South. He would be the perfect player to replace Howard (even better IMHO), hard at it style midfielder, half back flanker.

Plus there is the connection between Torney and Ben Hart, Andrew Jarman and Darren Jarman. I personally think his career has been success starved and this may be his last chance to play in any kind of premiership. We all know the problems South have had in recent years so as loyal to the panthers as he maybe a move to a more successful club maybe very attractive at this stage of his career.

A few big losses there, none bigger than McGuiness who was a standout perfromer in a desperately poor team this year. Brett Hand, from all accounts, will be a huge loss and it still puzzles me as to why he didn't sit in on the league coaching panel on match days.

could it have something to do with the league coach???????

Brent LeCras will be an out for the Port Magpies. He is heading back to West Perth (where he started his career) for next season.

They might be able to pay him - word is he is very pissed off about the money situation at Port.

That would be ironic - leaving a SANFL club to go to a WAFL club over money!!

LOL  Yep although Subiaco have heaps because they were smart in leasing out and maintaining control of the Corporate Suites at their home ground when the Eagles and Dockers play.

3 expected in's for SANFL clubs from delistings at Geelong and Swans:

Geelong - Sam Hunt (193cm 92kgs CHB) to North, previously signed for North end of 2005 from Essendon but was redrafted (Rookie List) in early 2006 and elevated to Senior list this year by Geelong.

Geelong - Todd Grima (193 cm 95 kgs Fwd - Rookie List) to Centrals, brother of Nathan and by all accounts a better player (Just what Centrals need! ). Rated highly at Geelong and many suprised to see him not elevated to the senior list. Could still end up at another AFL club.

Swans - Matt Davis (191 cm 90kgs Fwd/Defender - Rookie List) to North. Former North junior and signed by North at end of 2006 but re-rookie listed with Swans early 2007. Surely won't happen again after 4 years on the Rookie list for 1 pre-season game in total? Listed as fwd but plays CHF and CHB for the Swans State League team but most likely to play in defence at North.

Has Jars been on the phone with Ben Cousins yet?

Serious question though to drebs or whoever...
If North did sign Sam Hunt before without ever playing, and another SANFL club wants him, would that club need to pay North some compensation? Just asking as I thought he would be free game as he would not have been registered with the club????

You can also add Luke Cowan to the ins only played the one game last season, before doing his shoulder but he is fit and raring for pre season.
I do understand all teams have these types who didn't play a game but yeah i think Cowan will be a huge in. IMHO he is in the best 3 CHF in the SANFL when fully fit.

Also forgot you can add Cameron Faulkner already signed with the Dogs providing he is not picked up in the AFL pre season draft.

He will be very valuable qick forward/ midfielder in the Shannon Motlop mould. He will add unpredictability to the Central forward line. Struggled as a midfielder in the VFL Weeribee side but when he went forward was invaluable with his skills by hands and tackling ability, much like Dutschke. I would imagine if fully fit he will play of the bench and give the team that spark and freshness Roy Laird always talks about.

except cam faulkner has played most games with werribee reserves and if he cant make werribee league team in the VFL he wont make the dogs league team in the SANFL

He'll be a good player for us before long though. Andrew Hayes was in a similar position. Took a year to get into the SANFL style and played superb footy for us and kept Adrian Wilson out of the team in the end. Most improvement from the dogs will be the kids getting better, and the capable guys in reserves putting pressure on the league team.

If we get a couple of recruits I don't really know where we'll play them. Maybe we'll promote our reserves to the league comp to give everyone a game......

Not sure but he was signed with us with an AFL outclause as is standard but unless someone offered a ridiculously large salary - if he comes to SA it will be at North.

Why so interested in Weatherley? It's not like he has done anything in his 2 years so far.
