I thought it was the AFL sponsor NAB that arranged this not the AFL?

I thought the NAB arranged the certificates that went to person that the draftee nominated as having the biggest impact on their footy development??

Yes they do that but also give a donation of cash, computers, footies etc to the players original club/school I believe

NAB pays for all the prize packs that go to each Rising Star nominees original club. Every rising star has a pack of footys, tackling bags, equipment etc go to his original club and NAB does all this and has a rep go along and present it, and also the player if he happens to be around at the time

AFL buys the guernseys and then works with NAB to promote it in all the areas the jumpers go to. NAB gets on board because it ties in with their sponsorships of Auskick, 16s, 18s, draft etc

ahh Ok...thanks, its the NAB that present it so thats what Im thinking of

Very bad times for Igs that day.

I went to Igs too, needless to say their 1st XVIII were carp in the late 80's. Nothing against Rob Nak who was the coach at the time... top bloke, not much to work with though.

Although Saints had a lot of footballers, they still werent a TOP side, the Pizza Hut Cup was won by either the Rossi Boys or Sacred Heart in any given year. Blackfriars weren't bad either back then...

A correction here. Darren Jolly did not play for Loxton in South Australia, but Lexton in Victoria.

Anyone looking for Rostrevor's list would do well to look in the Football Budget from yore. Each year in GF budgets they used to list all of the players who attended their school and played at SANFL/AFL level.

Yeah there were a few others ... David Pittman was probably in that side, aswell as the other Maynard brother ... Simon Cowan (I think that was the name) was around the same time as Scott Russell.

Don't think Scott Field went there, although there was a Veale I think might have?? Was also a Muir that later played for Norwood and Uni and Stephen Daniels ... Of current players, the two Lower boys went there aswell.

I went to Rostrevor from 86 to 90. In 1990 and 91 they were virtually unbeatable but it's strange, only a few that I can think of kicked on. Ben Hart, Tim Cook, Luke Darcy are AFL players I can think of and Marcus Trimboli played at Sturt.

I went to school and played in the same team as Adam Saliba. After school he would tonk left foot screw punts through the goals from 50m on the boundary line  . Complete waste of talent after playing a few Crows games and 1 SOO v Victoria ...

Andrew Jarman and David Payne were also past scholars before my time

Both of Gilles Plains High later called Windsor Gardens High

I went to primary school and played in the same team as Glenn Molloy son of Stephen Molloy - Glenn played for Norwood and Melbourne. Absolute gun at age 11 - Fairview Park Primary
In between signatures .....
