Heard that in the A1 game on Saturday between Brighton & Adelaide High OS a Brighton batsman punched the Captain of AHOS. Following this the Brighton Batsman was then tackled to the ground by an AHOS fieldsman. Anyone know anything further cos you would expect this incident could have severe ramifications for not only the players but the clubs involved as well. The A1 competition is the last place you would expect an incident like this to happen.

Brighton Batsman, Adelaide High OS Skip and Player all reported. Batsmen for striking, Skipper for sledging and other player for breaking it up?? Yeah he hit him after some constant sledging, but now may receive a lengthy holiday.

It's a shame that it has come to an incident like this to bring it to a head but this has been an ongoing problem in ATCA for a number of years.
Some umpires are too scared to bring the so called elite players into line.

I'm sure the way the AHOS Captain sledges there would have been many more players wanting to have decked him and some that would buy the bloke a beer that did it.

Having said the umpires should have stepped up and put an end to it before it got as far as it did. As well as the fact that the Brighton player should have had a little more control than to take matters into his own hands like he did.

Played in the Under 17 CUSA side in the BankSA Shield. A Handy Keeper/Batsman.
Opened up and was a cosistent 20-40 man but didn't go on with it. Very agressive bat likes to hit over the infield. Just needed to learn how to pull back a little and work the ball when the field dropped back.

Well Reynella fell about 50 runs short of Goodwood target in the A3 game at Reynella.
Gabby and Hoppy made 69 & 77 and if they could have stayed together a touch longer would have made for an even closer finish.
Reynella started well and put on a good 1st wicket partnership and had wickets in hand at tea. Unfortunatly the task was just a touch too much and a constant flow of wickets led to them coming up just short. Luker was the destroyer for Goodwood with 6 for and there left arm opening bowler (Lidner I think it is) bowled a great first up spell that had the batsman jumping around a bit

I believe Reynella have a couple good quality bowlers to come into there side and I can see them winning more games than they loose as they adjust to life on turf wickets.

Goodwood will need a few more bats to step up by I can see this side pushing the four at the end of the year.

While we won't pretend that Wazza is an angel, the 'constant sledging' was pretty tame in comparison to what is have seen from him and others in the past. He suggested the batsman's dad should have stuck to umpiring rather than shout abuse from the sidelines (which he had done all of the previous week). The batsman first shoved Wazza and then as Wazza turned to walk away hit him from behind. The first slip (a police officer) ran in and tackled him the batsman to the ground as he stood over Wazz who had fallen to the ground. The way the batsman snapped suggested there was something more than the bowler getting at him. All the Brighton boys were quite shocked and embarrassed but to their credit, came in for a beer after the match and said they would help out the lad who obviously has some deeper issues than sledging......
Not pretty and will be interesting to see how the ATCA handles it tonight.

I think Reynella are a fantastic addition to the ATCA. they have some quality cricketers and Goodwood were lucky to win.

it seems Reynella had a couple of their bowlers out and Goodwood had two bats (one of whom made a ton in the GF last year) and their leading wicket taker out for the weekend.

From what i saw i believe that Reynella could be top 4 contenders by seasons end. a big call i know but time will tell if i am wrong.

I couldn't see too many clubs interested is paying him to play for them.

He is a good kid. Looked solid enough against the District sides would have been the CUSA sides leading run scorer as he was consistant just never went on with it during the carnival.

Could have a crack at District just depends on if he wants to do the hard yards to make it there. Otherwise will be a handy ATCA player as he should only getter better as he gets older.
