Because they just aren't very good.

OK Cosgrove got a stinker but the rest of them simlply are not up to it. Elliott was a great player but it is very questionable if he can play at the level he needs to ever again. The scariest thing is that Cosgrove who has a serious weight issue is clearly the best player we have. No-one is close to his level. Lehmann is 38? and Elliott is just about finished. They are the three we will rely on. A fat bloke and 2 guys over 35. Looks good for the future

Spot on Rooster.

Wouldn't mind having a look at Andrew Delmont at State Level.

Great isnt it, two days into the season and here we are
Day One - Discussion is centred around how poor our selected bowling lineup is
Day Two- Discussion is centred around how poor our selected batting lineup is.

What will we talk about tommorow, lets hope we bat and bowl, then we can combined day one and day two discussions and save time.

What ever they are doing down there, they are certainly mis-named.

There is no TAB at Adelaide Oval so I never go on Mondays
Looks like what I would have seen was a repetition of 2006-2007

He actually bowled well last year for a part timer
I reckon he was a better bowler 2006-2007 than Cullen

At this point of time and thier stages of thier careers I rate these as the best spinners in SA
1 LEHMANN
2 ADCOCK
3 BAILEY
4 CULLEN

Thats after day 2 First game 2007-2008 v VIC
Im sure BAILEY will become a better bowler than ADCOCK
If CULLEN can get back to his terrific form of 2005-2006 he is far better than ADCOCK

Today vindicates by assessments
CULLEN 2/125
BAILEY 1/66
ADCOCK 1/0

I wasn't having a shot at you there mal, the embarassed face was to represent SA cricket, not your prediction. 250 would have been quite handy compared to what we finished up with today.

GWW no probs.

6/116
7/134
8/156

STUMPS 8/162
BAILEY 18*
GILLESPIE 2*

A rearguard resistance of SmalL proportions
250 is still a possibility
After all we have a Test Double centurion and a grade cricket century maker at the crease.....

SA Cricket is in a bad state.
We have the talent, but is the intensity there during grade cricket to apply the discipline to take the step up?
I think not..
Grade cricket must be reduced, I know it will cause arguments, but the fact is there are tooooooo many district clubs around to create a competition close enough to Pura Cup standard.

Victoria have 14 district sides and we have 13.........compare the population and see what I mean.
i think NSW has 16 district clubs..........once again.....population..........

SA should have 8 district clubs and the standard will jump big time.........

Its going to be tough competition between Adam and Wade. Both excellent with the gloves and Wade better with the bat. He is young and will have dips in form so it will be interesting. If Adam does struggle to get back in its a shame becuase he is very talented.

I would hardly say Wade came in at a crucial situation would you? 5 for 263 against a pretty sub standard attack. He was great but will have bigger challenges than this.

The first 10-15 balls he faced I dont think he got bat to ball
Gillespie/Harris really bowled well to him with the 2nd new pill
I was thinking can this guy bat ?
You would think he was batting with a tooth pick !
He did play better just before stumps
He made 83 so he can bat

We gotta give credit to MT79 who has predicted that WADE can be a superstar
To leave his state [TA] as a teenager and make 83 on debut in a new state is sensational

Im just in awe at the keeper/batters in Australia in one era
GIL christ
HADDIN
RONCHI
HARTLEY
PAINE
DIETZ

All capable of playing as batsmen
And now WADE introduces himself

Confidence cant be bought, but the SACA could have at least tried over the summer! With no recruits and no real change in the playing group what was the SACA doing to help our side play better this year? Crossing its fingers?

no matter how many clubs there are they will still be the same players representing SA. yes they may have better competition and tougher opposition at club level but they only played 1 day of club cricket prior to this game so how does it matter what standard the game was, they have close to six months of intense training trial games etc. They had trial games against WA and QLD to harden them up. i think the only way it will change is if a few bad eggs move on, and they pick blokes with the right character and temperament not the most stylish lofted drive or best bloke
