Well when Jansen opens up at 129.9 1st ball after lunch as has been only hitting 135, in Melb he hit 140 +

When Nortje isn’t bowling an extended spell after lunch to try and get a break through

According to Neil Manthorp there’s 5-6 players who could easily be in this side of available. They’ve got 50-60 players choosing to play overseas on lesser competitions which effects their 1st class cricket

We went four years without winning a test series in the 80s due to unavailability of the likes of Rackerman, Alderman, Hohns, Dyson and others.

Any time a team knows it’s playing without its best players it’s always up against it mentally

As much as I see him as a future opener for Aus and considering how well the Aus top 5 have gone in the previous 4 test matches this just shows that picking Renshaw as a specialist number 6 is a wasted just selection IMO. I was convinced Australia would go with five bowlers in this test (and backing the top 5 to make enough runs), bringing in Agar and replacing Starc with either Morris or Hazlewood. Still can't believe Boland got dropped FMD.

As much as I see him as a future opener for Aus and considering how well the Aus top 5 have gone in the previous 4 test matches this just shows that picking Renshaw as a specialist number 6 is a wasted just selection IMO. Pretty much agree here. I firmly believe the selectors have gone with a line up they are keen-ish on in preparation for India..

This Harmer fella looks like he should be vice captain of Pulteney Old Scholars 4th XI

Apparently takes a shed load of wickets in county cricket…. Which if true is a poor reflection on the standard there.

If the pitch starts to take spin he will become dangerous like he has in the CC.

He's very accurate and if it's a turner on day 4 he will get subtlest turn that takes edges. He doesn't have enough variation however on a pitch that's not offering anything.

Im normally a fan of batting on and grinding teams into the ground a little bit, but today I think it's a good one for a declaration soon.

Can see the Aussies batting on til Uzzie gets his double (doesn't have one yet) or gets out, then having a crack at them tonight. 15 or so overs (depending on how quickly he gets there) seems around the mark, with the two quicks bowling most of them, resting up overnight then going again tomorrow morning (subject to rain).

Why would you want to bowl when rain is coming?
We will get 3 or 4 overs with a new ball and then it will be soaked. May aswell bat the day out.
