Below all them would have to be Mark Steketee. 28 years old 229 first class wickets at 25 is a fair effort.

Perhaps Mark Steketee. Has taken 25 at 15.5 in the Sheffield Shield (used to be a comp that was played over summer in order to assess form and give opportunity for the test side). Probably benefits from having Nesser at the other end.

Steketee - 235 FC wickets at 25.34 but his average over the last 2 to 3 shield seasons would be much lower. Not express but seems very durable and more suited to the sub-continent and even England than a couple on your list. Probably too similar to Boland to be considered for Sydney. But has to be in the mix for the trip to India considering he was in the squad that toured Pakistan earlier this year.

When you consider some of fast bowlers we were forced to bring in when covering for injuries during the fairly dominant McGrath, Gillespie, Lee era then I don't think fast bowling depth in Australia has ever been this good.

23 wickets in 6 matches in the shield this year, hard to ignore sadly.

Yes, I post this December 16th-

It's an important series for both teams in terms of qualifying for the WTC Final, on the Wisden Cricket Podcast it was explained that if Australia win 3-0 and then lose 4-0 to India in India they will still qualify make the final and if South Africa win 2 of the 3 matches against Australia then go in to beat the West Indies 2-0 they will qualify for the final.

The main concern in the media for South Africa is if they can make enough runs to defend.
