With emerging evidence of the impacts of head injury in sport, we all have an important role to play to minimize the risk of concussion and enhance the health and safety of those playing Australian Football.
In line with the AFL’s newly updated guidelines for the Management of Concussion in Australian Football, this resource has been created alongside others for players, coaches and volunteers so each segment of our football community is aware of the importance of safe play and ultimately reducing the risk of concussion.
This educational resource for umpires relates to head high contact and dangerous play has been developed to reinforce the important role you play as an umpire in managing our game and reduce the risk of concussion.

We encourage you to keep the conversation going with your fellow umpires, umpire coaches and players over the coming weeks to ensure we are all playing our part to enhance the health and safety of those playing Australian Football.
Ps. As we pass the half point of our community football seasons, and while we have you, we just wanted to give you a shot out! We wanted to say thanks for being an umpire. Umpiring can be very rewarding and, at times, a little thankless – so thank you!
Remember, what we do, and what we do for the game is all about enjoyment and safety, so please keep that front of mind for the remainder the season.
Go well this weekend!
Where a player’s head strikes the ground as a result of a dangerous tackle, a free kick shall be awarded for a dangerous tackle
If that player is affected as a result of the dangerous tackle, that is, is unable to immediately take their kick, the offending player should be reported for rough conduct

So it's pretty clear what the AFL want to happen in community footy Australia wide.

So making them primadonna's at AFL level helps recruiting them? I would've thought pushing them to the background instead of putting them in the limelight would assist. But clearly I'm wrong... oh maybe not.

I umpire for the love of the game, I get paid for the abuse….
I’m not going to all that effort ( and yes it’s a time consuming “hobby”) for that amount of $$.
So they’ve shat in their own nest in my view.

Beautiful scenery.
The construction camp had a fence around it to keep the locals out, not-unstandard, however I soon noticed the camp also had a mesh wire roof over it as well.
Turns out the locals like to lob rocks over the fence to try and hit the contractors building them free homes.
The cop shop had every window broken and the officer was run off the island a month or so before we arrived.
Oh, and don't drink the local water, their reservoir has a parasite in it.

Shouldn't this be in the "travel" thread?
