This was another case of the retaliator getting reported. I'm not condoning what he did but think about the circimstances:

The game was well and truely over the dogs were 10 goals up Chris had played a good game and was about to win another flag.
It took a serious action against him to get that riled up!

This must be the first time a Jack Oatey meddalist has been reported in the same game!

Go watch the tape - if any incident that occured earlier riled up Gowans then surely he would have done something at the time but there was nothing that Schubert did that would warrant what Gowans did but you keep believing if you so choose.

I don't need to watch a tape - it all happened right in front of where I was sitting.
We used to be good :-(

I'd really wish people just let this issue die down and let the authorities deal with it as they feel fit, I think we should spend our time congratulating Central on how awesome they were and what an unbelievable effort it was in their record breaking 8th GF in a row.
Please?

I think what we have is a circular conversation.

Most supporters saying it was poor form.

Dogs supporters saying it was poor form, but it didn't come from nowhere.

Other supporters say it was poor form.

Dogs supporters saying...

Maybe the conversation won't change, no matter how long we post about it?

Agreed as did the rdio commentators on 5AA later say the same. The Gowans have to have some piss weak excuse to justify the cowardly action and if it was a square up even the Gowans are not dumb enoguh to king hit the wrong player so the piss weak excuses for the incident continue to have less credibility as the day goes on.

You're right S.
No matter which club the player was from, that club's supporters would be saying it was wrong BUT....

Where as others are just saying it's wrong.

Why? People still refer to the Sims incident of 91 - 16 years on and this was just as bad. The only thing that was lucky is that Schuey only got a cut eye and not a more serious injury.

No-one is detracting from the awesome performance of Centrals but this incident was unsavoury and not what we want to see. After all the shit in 91 and changing the rules re the send off etc it will be interesting to see exactly what he cops - should be at least 8-10 if Sims got 12!

100% agree with you, Wedgeman.
James will get games for what was a silly retaliation - it certainly was not an unprovoked attack.
I certainly won't remember the match for what took place when we were 65 points up at the time, more how we got there.

Now here is a question if the Gowans lad got reported for retaliation what about the North player who retaliated against the Gowans retaliation , has he been reported ?????????????

I have not seen the replay of the game yet, but i will get back and have my say later this week hopefully.

To all the posters putting down the Gowan boys, it really smacks of jealousy.

I bet you guys would not mind having these guys in your teams because by now you would of won six flags.

The biggest loser here is J Gowans himself.

Cost himself the Oatey IMO.
Got himself very upset, and stopped him from enjoying the victory as he should.
Copped a fair wack in mouth.
Will get a significant suspension.
I'm sure Chris' experience has been tainted somewhat by his brothers actions too.

So glad that we took off before the incident.
I had the little fella with me at his first ever game of footy.
He loved it, we had a great day with all the Bulldogs people sitting near us and the Tigers got up in the 2s.

It happened right in front of where we were sitting.
Would have totally changed the whole vibe of the day, I imagine, because those sort of incidents get me fired up, and i'm sure the Doggy supporters we were with would have tried to defend his actions.

Just a very dissappointing end.
We should all be talking about how good the Dogs are.
But were not.

The Gowans boys have been bloody good players, had alot of success and got away with heaps over the years.
I think maybe its time the for the Gowans boys to f*** off now.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

8 years of playing in the SANFL and ZERO suspensions.
Hardly the rap sheets of thugs.
James and Chris go out onto the ground the most verbally abused players (by opposition supporters) and physically targeted (by opposition players) year in, year out. Nobody likes what happened - I'm sure James regrets it, but some perspective please - if you take any players from any of your teams and wind them up like the Gowans are - some @#$% will happen, they will lose their temper and do something they might regret.

i know it was the last minute of the game, but dose the send off rule still apply in the SANFL? is it still around and dose it happen in the u/17s and 19s? i can only remember it being used once, i think it was a port player, but i cant remember his name.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF !!!!!!!!!!!

So Bloody what!
You Bulldogs supporters out their claiming that retailiation was the reason he King hit Schub, 10 meters away from the ball, and whilst he's looking in the other direction need to have a good long hard look at yourselves. Retaliation, IMO, is when you react IMEDIATLY to having been belted or verbally abused by an oponent. If Gowans had belted Schubert, standing toe to toe with him, after Schubert had just jumper punched him or got stuck into him then you would have every right to call it retailiation and say Schubert deserved what he got. The facts are though whatever Schubert did or was suposed to have done happened minutes before the hit. The facts are Gowans hunted him down from behind and King hit him whilst he wasn't looking. Call it retribution for previous acts from North players maybe but certainly not retailiation to an immediate threat or circumstance. If any SANFL tribunal officals are reading this site I hope they take this into account before passing sentence. I love biffo at the footy as much as anyone.........ads to the spectacle IMO. What I don't like seeing is gutless cowards whacking people from behind and then people saying "It's OK he was retailiating." that's a load of BS. It wasn't retailiation at all it was revenge. Throw the book at the moron, I don't want to see that type of c**p at the footy and I don't believe anyone else does either.
By the way Apache............The Gowans brothers are far from the only reason your Dogs have won 6 flags in 8 years. Personally I would rather not see them suit up in my clubs colours weather they can play or not. Do you honestly believe South Adelaide would have 6 flags under it's belt now if the Gowans twin were playing for us? Stupid statement.
Choco Williams Lives!!! We have seen the REVOLUTION come and go. You have "LIVED THE CREED". All you Power people are now gonna have to "KEEP THE FAITH". Slogan for 2010-11 PAFC.....or is it PAPFC.......I never get it right.
