I honestly didnt feel very good after the incident because i would hate that to happen to anyone on my team, or any team.

People bag the Gowans but this is the first time they have done anything like this.

Chris had nothing to do with it so why people are putting him in this is beyond me.

James should never have done what he did, it was a disgrace really.
When it happened i turned to the people i was with and said this is the last time we will see a Gowans in a centrals jumper.

People can say what they like about the Gowans boys (and they do) but they always give you something to talk about. They have been great for SANFL footy (except for this incident)

Problem is this one incident will over ride a great game by the dogs.
I think 6 weeks is probably about right.

Dog's fans need not worry about this game being remembered for Gowans cowardly act. HE will be remembered for it. The other thing I took away from todays game is just how good Centrals actually are. Centrals were awesome today. I hope some Adelaide Crows players watched the game because Centrals presure and effeciency were something you would expect to see from and AFL side. Surely Roy Liard now needs to look beyond the SANFL for his next challenge. Every single Central player knew EXACTLY where they were supposed to be for every contest and you could see Laird has the total respect of his playing group. They play for him and each other as if their lives depend on it. Well coached, way to strong, to classy, to damn good.
Thanks for the clinc Dogs and well played. =D> =D>

Just got home and started reading this thread. Firstly i am a long time supporter and member of the DOGGIES and will not condone what Gowans done for 1 second and personally i hope he gets a 10 match suspension. BUT who was the North player that decked one of the Gowans players in one of the earlier quarters (sorry not 100%) sure on which quarter or which Gowans it was. This still is no reason to do what he did as you let the scoreboard tell the story. Yes these 2 brothers are sensational footballers but extremely hot headed and thuggish at times. Its a pity this premiership will be remembered for this 1 reckless and stupid act rather than another great chapter in the DYNASTY this football club is currently going through. If you seen Gowans face after the game you would certainly know PAY back was achieved by at least one NORTH player.

I don't think so. It will be remembered for both reasons, primarily the latter of your statement.

didnt see the incident today, foolish as it may be by the sounds we have all probably done things on the footy field with which we would not be proud of ( life as well ). The tribunal should look after this incident and give him what its worth ( this wont happen as the tribunal is piss weak ) Dont hang the man he probably doesnt like what he done but im sure he will cop his dues. Both Gowans have been great for the SANFL and every time i hear them speak on radio they come accross as good blokes and im a rooster supporter.

Just visited 'The Roost'. Well done North supporters on taking today's result in good spirits. However, I do take offence at seeing James' action labelled as the worst action ever seen on a football ground. I do believe there have been many worse actions. 1991 GF, for example.

Firstly well done to Centrals - far too good and a powerhouse of a team.

I just watched the incident and there is no way that Gowans can justify the action he took. There is nothing in any of the lead up that warranted any square up but even if there was you don't king hit a player - go toe to toe with him!

We all (including North fans) shuddered in 1991 when Sims belted Simpson and got 12 games and forced the league to bring in a send off rule. I would rate the cowardly hit by Gowans as bad but do do it with 2 minutes to go when your team is up 10 goals shows exactly what sort of arrogance he holds the game in. I have always admired the way both the Gowans play, hard tough, niggling winning football but one of them let himself, his brother and his club down today and I just can't wait to hear the excuses come from some of the dogs fans but get a reality check and watch the replay first and try and justify the king hit - you won't be able to!

As for the talk of Police action - that's rubbish - it was a football incident however unsavoury it may be and let the tribunal dish out at least 10 weeks because if Sims hit on Simpson deserved 12 then this one was about the same so I think 10 it should be at least.

P.S. Some of the Centrals fans in the Corporate Super Boxes at the Southern end above where the North Grog Squad were sitting you also disgraced your club. Spitting down on spectators and throwing coins that could have hit anyone was absolutely disgraceful!

I don't know what was dumber - Gowans brain explosion or some of the comments on here.

IMO it was completely and utterly unnecesary, provocked or not. You just don't do those things. You just don't.

Gee, some people get carried away don't they. This incident will be forgotten before too long. People stopped talking about Bickley's hit on Wakelin a couple of weeks later.

Will probably get about 4 for this, and maybe even just the couple.

Anyone who thinks legal action against Gowans is on is taking something strong.

If Gowans retires the suspension will stand but perhaps might carry over to any other comp he plays in. They won't fine him 20k or anything like that. Doubt they'd fine him even if he does retire, and regardless there aint no way they'll announce their retirements if that will make it a fine instead of a suspension.

I have no problem with the success Central Districts have had over the last 10 years,my only beef is these two blokes have been involved in,and will be remembered in one of the greatest teams ever.Makes my skin crawl.

I expect nothing better from those 'Dogs'.

Yep and we all know the circumstances behind what Sims did to Simpson and he duly got games, one would think (And hope) the same will happen here....i.e it will be settled by the tribunal

Really?

I thought NFC, Macca19 and their mates were handing down punishment tonight...

Sorry, I thought this was a discussion board, where people discuss things.

Obviously im mistaken.
