Pot kettle black being an opposition trianer I saw some of Macca's finest work close hand but I'm not going to have a go at Macca as my club when it was successful had blokes who pushed the line and crossed it.

Granted had a few ales, but Scott Salisbury was a favourite son of your boys, so lets not be selective all of a sudden shall we???

Hence why I added that line CP, as I fully admit my club has had them.

i think an assault charge will be likely after talking to a cop at the glenelg footy club tonight

Very unlikely, would only possibly occur if Schubert suffered severe injuries that could result in ongoing impairment.

I'm not quite sure of the law here, but I think they are two possible types of assault charge - Criminal Assault which the police can file themselves if they think the assault and injury is severe enough, and civil Assault charges which anyone assaulted can start for even minor assault. Usually that sort of thing gets ignored in sport, but perhaps it is time somebody made a stand with one of these thugs.

The law probably varies from state to state.

One has to ask, how soft are we all getting in judgment? Each team takes the field with the same number of players, it's a mans game, and each team is capable of inflicting the same punishment on another, scoreboard or otherwise

Cheers

I think you might be on to something their BDP. I wasn't lucky enough to watch the game live (Live in the Country) but you do pick certain things up on the telly that others don't see watching the game live (replays help). I guess you also miss incidents behind the cameras as a trade off I supose. Watching the replay on telly, you actually see Howard look down and shorten his stride, thus the boot in the face of C Gowans. I'm not saying he did it intentionally but it sure as hell looked like it. Was James king hit on Schubert a case of mistaken identidy? Maybe. Either way why do it? Stupid act, cowardly act and one he will have to live with for the rest of his carear. To those Dogs fans who were at the game, did Schubert do anything to provoke the incident physically? The commentators half way through the last quarter kept refering to a brawl behind play involving the twins but they showed no footage and didn't mention the North player(s) involved. Was Schubert involved in it?Fill us in.

Gee wait until the North fans log on.....

Yep I agree to certain extent its a mans game and it appears their may have been a trigger to the incident so the recipient may have had an inkling of what may be coming, however the point I am trying to make is in the same way things are setled on the footy field players have to be prepared to know that if they break any of the subclauses of Law 19.2 of Australian Football the controlling body will take action.

My impressions of the Gowans is that they play the game with a "you live by the sword you die by the sword" they don't explain or complain they just get even (as players from my club have in the past). Given they live and die by the sword they can't expect the controlling body to just let it got through to the keeper.....

Given that he has been reported the statements on here tonight that James may have been responding to provocation unfortunately could lead a tribunal panel to think that he wasn't just reckless or negligent that there was intent to the action that we saw just prior to the siren, which unfortunately for James could lead to heftier penalty.

I know a player in the Port Lincoln league that was taken to court over an on field incident, nasty king hit behind play. I could be wrong, but I reckon he was found guilty also, not sure what the punishment was though.

I saw an incident between J. Gowans and Schubert across centrals half forward line, didnt actually see what happened but James ended up on the ground, got up (and i told the people around me to keep an eye on James.) next minute he did what he did.I think this was complete brain fade by him. I honestly didnt feel very good after the incident because i would hate that to happen to anyone on my team, or any team.

People bag the Gowans but this is the first time they have done anything like this.

Chris had nothing to do with it so why people are putting him in this is beyond me.

James should never have done what he did, it was a disgrace really.
When it happened i turned to the people i was with and said this is the last time we will see a Gowans in a centrals jumper.

People can say what they like about the Gowans boys (and they do) but they always give you something to talk about. They have been great for SANFL footy (except for this incident)

Problem is this one incident will over ride a great game by the dogs.
I think 6 weeks is probably about right.
