Isaiah Borgas

A young mate of mine from the Barossa, picked in the Aussies U/19 team (only 17, youngest guy in the squad) is already impressing in their o/s tour. Keep an eye out for this guy, definite Aussie prospect in years to come, very level headed too, nicest guy you could meet.

Aussie Run Riot

Australia Under-19s walloped Malaysia by 183 runs in the first of two one-day friendlies at Kelab Aman in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. The New Straits Times has a full report:

Four Australians posted half centuries as they compiled 306 runs in 50 overs before dismissing Malaysia for 123 runs in 43 overs.
Isaiah Borgas, batting at No 4 for Australia, knocked an elegant 81 runs off 72 balls which included seven boundaries and three sixes, Anthony Murphy chipped in with 60 off 84 balls, Tim Buzzard scored 54 and James Faulkner was unbeaten on 50.

Yeah he seems he may be the future of Cricket for Australia and South Australia. If he is this good when will he be offered a contract with the Redbacks. I remember him from year 5 years ago when i was in year 6 on SAPSASA Cricket. He was my billet. Was a good player then as well

Sounds like hes definitely one to look out for, i think theres a fair chance that half the batsman in the Redbacks side could have the name Borgas for the next 10/12 years (although presumably this youngest lad who i believe is a cousin of the other 2 may not make his debut until probably next year or the year after).

The way the Redback's batting line-up looks now - why not get him in there ASAP!

Agree. The only reason you couldn't is if you were worried that a run of failures might shatter his confidence.

Great to see him doing well! :D

He is a second-cousin of mine and I remember playing cricket with him when he was about 4 years old and you could tell he was talented already then! Is a "top bloke" as well, and is captain of his school (Faith Lutheran in Tanunda) this year.

Hopefully we get a Borgas dynasty half or even as quarter as successful as the Chappell dynasty :D

He is a second-cousin of Jason and Cameron Borgas. (Their fathers are cousins)

Ah ok i knew the youngest one wasn't a brother of the other 2, assumed they were first cousins.

Spoke to his Dad today and the Aussies play Pakistan in the first one-dayer today, so I'll try to find out some scores and post them on here.

A tough start for Iz and also the Aussie u/19 team getting thrashed in the first two games against Pakistan.

He made 4 in the first game and 1 in the second (where the Aussies made a grand total of 78), next game at Mirpur on October 9.

The disappointing tour continues for the Aussie U/19s, now 3-0 down in the 5 match series after losing by 30 runs in Mirpur.

Borgas came in at number 6, made 40 off 34 balls. Hopefully he can make some runs in the last two games to further enchance his Redback prospects in the next year or so.
