If it's rolled out properly it's no different.

I always found stuck down a little more slippery than most rolled out. Sun, rain, wind, they perish over time where I always found the roll out a bit thicker and not as quick.

Anyone old enough like me to remember the hesian matting? Those were the days, Dave Austin slinging them down at United Districts on a hot day. No shop, no taps, no toilets, a little shade, that was tough.

If it's rolled out properly it's no different.

I think permanent matting is better especially for a bowler as rolled out matting can move and shift and crease up with all the foot traffic it gets on it during a day's play, especially around the popping crease.

Morphett Vale is a very good surface and pitch and has some well kept clubrooms, it's a good place to play.

Let's get some conversation flowing. Now we are 2.5 games down, who are the teams across the competition that are surprise packets? Who looks to be struggling, and what can they do to turn it around?

I'd say that Coromandel look to have started well upon their return to Section 1 having taken it up to Ramblers and having a good win against Plympton. Pretty evenly poised mid game at the moment. Port Noarlunga look to have brought back a few names in Section 2 and have been competitive in all games - could be a dark horse in the comp.

Fitzroy in S3 look to be battling a bit. Proud club with good facilities that I think could do with some bolstering in the batting stocks.

I saw my old Western Youth forfeited their Section 6 side ( B grade ) on the weekend, not a good sign for a club that was once among the powerhouses of the competition since joining from the old Independent Central comp. Sad times with our 60th anniversary on the horizon.

Not many.

Port Districts, Seaton Ramblers, United Districts, Woodville Districts, Fitzroy, Norwood ANA, Rose Park, Western Youth, from what I can recall only Fitzroy , Port Districts and WYC are still about.

They had probably one of the better bowling attacks in the association without Tansell last season.
Should be favourites for promotion to Section 1 this season I would think.

Central United in the PDCA was a break away from the Suburban Districts club from the old ICCA.
