Nobody from Kangarilla wrote that article, I have heard they are putting a complaint into the league about it.

It was disgrace that it was allowed to be printed.

Nice to see reasonably good umpiring on the weekend. Certianly played no part in the result in the Bs. Blackwood a cut above IB and Lofty too on that form. I don't care if they brought players in from their Country team late in the season, it's still only their B Grade as their A Grade played straight afterwards.

I believe that Trev Mac is the one that has the input with the Final Siren.

Blackwood's Central Div "B" Grade is actually their thirds and it is wrong of them to drop players back from the their Country Div "A" Grade (seconds) to play especially when they don't normally play in that grade.

Like I said before, if they take out their country div sides next year it will solve these problems that come up every year with Blackwood.

Certainly became apparent that after they played us with about 5 rounds to go and they had games against mostly top 5 sides the rest of the way that they'd shut up shop and decided that they might as well go for it in the b's as their A's were going to lose regardless. Not sour grapes from my point of view as we have had issues of our own with guys not willing to step up.

Must have been a great performance from Torrens Valley on the weekend. Unfortunately I couldn't go to the match but I don't think anyone would have thought they were a chance at the start of the finals series and it must have been some time since a side came from 4th or 5th (5th in TV's case) in the Country/Div 2 comp to take the flag.

IB vs hahndorf in the 14's.

i do know adam kramp played against us in the 2nd round so he prob played against other teams too. i dont have any real dramas with who blackwood play in the GF so long as they have qualified legally. we'll go in extremely confident in looking for a third premiership in a row..

tips for this week:

A's biased but also on recent form id go lofty by 4goals. (when uris were good on the wkend they were awesome but the rest of the time they were ordinary) the team to win will be the one that plays 4 quarter footy the best..

B's blackwood hitting good form lately but of course will back us in and if our forwards kick straight we'll win by 6-8 goals..

17's hard to pick a definate winner after loftys 2 point win out at birdwood they seem pretty evenly matched. if pistols kicks 5 or more lofty will win.

14's good luck to cappers boys, but cant see them getting over the IB lads..

sounds like good weather for the wkend so lets hope all the games are played in good spirits. (and of course lofty win all three again).. see you all there.

Tips for the GF
Jnr Colts- Hahndorf not really in the same class as Ironbank but anything can happen on the big day. Still think Ironbank wont let this slip after losing a few grand finals in the past couple years. Hahndorf will need to give Trent Male some help, he just doesnt have the support Shearwood and Pope do.
Ironbank by 5 goals

Snr Colts- Could be match of the day with these teams sharing extremely close encounters during this season. Mt Lofty are up 2-1 at this stage but i think Uraidla want this a bit more and are the best side at holding Mt Lofty's forward line.. Mail Medalist's Wotten and Liebelt wont let this slip when its tight in the dying minutes.
Uraidla by 9 points

B grade- Mt Lofty would be licking there lips after seeing the Thunderers go down in the prelim but I think they should be nervous about the fact that they hav to face the in form woodies. The Devils forward line is potent but there always seems to be something special about teams coming from the Elim final. Woodies to upset the Devils 3peat
Woodies by 3 goals

A grade- Uraidla will come out firing in this clash but I really do think the dominance of Bawden will shape this game. Mt Lofty will get first use at every bounce, and that will hav them in good position to give ther forwards every oppurtunity to post a good score. Dont think the Devils backmen will be able to hold the uraidla forwards so convincingly again, but i just think the Devils will kick a winning score.
Mt Lofty by 7 goals

Mt Lofty by 7 goals

Each to their own, but that's some strange tipping, LP...
I don't know if Uri's Snr Colts WANT it more??? The Devs came good esp late in the year and look pretty ominous.
B grade - GF nerves, maybe, however nervous about facing Blackwood, doubt it. What really kept IB in games against the devs recently was a straight-kicking FF. Lofty have great ruck options and TWO good FF's.
I think, if anything going Blackwood's way is these somewhat unknowns quantities that were dropped from Country.
And in A grade - I totally agree with your Bawden comment, but even being a devs man, can't see Lofty winning by 7 goals.
But if anything can be learnt from their previous encounter, the lofty ballgetters MUST be FRONT & CENTRE.

14s: Ironbank by 13 goals (Has an u14s team ever been that good? Probably would have beaten IBs 17s)

17s: Uraidla by 2 goals (Pistola to kick 4 :o )

Bs: Lofty by 8 goals (IB probably would have knocked them off, but their not in it so cant! maybe a few injured players played for them on Sat  . Lofty too good if they dont get caught in that forwardline/midfield setup that Blackwood ran to take some players out of the game and confuse IB and it worked! Few key players went missing)

As: Draw = Extra time Lofty 2 goals (Something different :D . Dont know how many of the Uraidla lot are injured or will have a huge impact, but Lofty putting it together at the right time of year and look good. Even with injuries, looking forward to a ripper grand final)

Dont know whether to go to the Port game or Balhannah. Probably Balhannah as I reckon we might get done

All this talk about Blackwood dropping their Country Div A Grade players to the B Grade. The point is these players have come from Blackwood's second best team, if they were stars like some people on this site say they are, they would be playing in the Central A Grade, not their B Grade side. No matter who plays I still reckon the Devs will win.

Tips
Junior Colts- Ironbank have been the form side all season and I can't see the Pies getting over them. Ironbank by 10 goals, medal winner, Adam Shearwood Ironbank

Senior Colts- I think the Devils will win this, they have plenty of players who played in last years premiership and they always seem to step up on the big day. If Uraidla can hold Pistola, the devils still have plenty of goal kickers. The injury to Uraidla captain Liebelt will only dent Uraidlas chances. Devils by 6 goals, medal winner Josh Radbone to make it back to back medal wins

B Grade- Mt Lofty are a class team with plenty of speed and also some useful big men. Plenty of players with A Grade experience. Havent seen much of Blackwood but they did move the ball well last week. Mt Lofty have a strong defence and will not let the Woodies kick a big score. Devils with too much firepower up forward with Madsen, Fleet, Sinclair, Lovell all able to kick a bag. Agars back in the side will only add to this potential.
Mt Lofty by 7 goals, medal winner Mark Sinclair Mt Lofty

A Grade- I reckon Uraidla will come out fired up after 2 weeks ago and if the Devils can absorb early pressure of the demons, they will win the match. Bawden will give the Devils first use of the ball and this will enable to running brigade of the Devils to set up a lot of chances for Gordon and co up forward. Uraidla look to have a few players under injury clouds such as McLean and Vidic, and Sutherland has only had 1 game since breaking his collarbone. Forcast is for a warmish day and the run off the Devils will be a factor, Uraidla's big bodies such as Ebel and Staples may fade out as the match goes on.
Devils by 8 goals, medal winner Michael Artis, Mt Lofty

Under 14's- ironbank are a great side and good to watch. They have a great midfield and use each other very well. Hahndorf rely on Trent Male to fire, but Ironbank wont worry about him because his opponent in Pope can be more damaging for his side. Hahndorf have challenged them a few times this season, but I think Ironbank will be too much for team Male. Ironbank by 9 goals- Best on ground: Michael Pope, ironbank

Under 17's- Firstly great effort from the cabbages coming from bottom last year to making the Gf this year. Cant wait for this one, been tight games between these 2 sides all year. Last time the sides met I think Mt lofty played well below ther best. Uraidla rely on a choking the other teams game style to win games, so I think if they Devils can get that free flowing footy they play going and kick 10 goals + , Uraidla wont have the scoring potential to go with them.
Mt Lofty by 3 goals- Best on ground: Daniel Lean, mt lofty

b grade- If Mt lofty are at there best i dont think any team is capable of stopping them, so much talent in that side. Blackwood have showed great heart coming from the elimination final but the Devils forward line and talented midfield will be to much for the Woods.
Mt Lofty by 5 goals-best on ground: Nick Cullen, mt lofty

a grade- If 2 weeks ago is anything to go by the Devils are to quick, young and fit for the cabbages, but will be different come grand final day. Bawden has made a big difference since coming into the side and young matt curnow wont be enjoying his rucking duties. I think the first half will be low scoring much like last years grand final, but once the game breaks open the Devils pace around the ground will begin to get them on top. Joel Brown really has to step up, just creating a contest will create good opportunities for Dylan Brown and co. to get them going on the score board. Should be a tight contest and could go either way.
biased- mt lofty by 7 points :D - best on ground: Bawden, mt lofty

Thanks for the enlightenment Jailbird and others re the Kangarilla article. The first thing everyone needs to realise is that the buck stops with the EDITOR of any publication, regardless of who wrote the submitted article. Not sure if O is aware of the protocol in his self-proclaimed role but dozens of past disgusting blunders and apparently deliberate barbs indicate he isn't. Good luck to Kangas if they complain to the league as Owen IS the league as it stands at this time. I hope Kangas are aware that the Australian Press Council might have some good advice for them to add to their cause. The Siren is a 'paid for' publication and therefore comes under their juristiction if required. I'd be very surprised if the Courier had anything to do with it as they'd know better. There is also a common decency called 'conflict of interest' which essentially means that if someone holds dual roles (as Owen does), he is obliged to maintain absolute impartiality in both AT ALL TIMES. Mmmmm.....

Sorry if I seem to bite like a barracuda on topics of this nature but I've seen some very unpleasant friction stirred up within and between clubs by mischievous Budget crap over the years. Time to deal with this once and for all and hopefully one day soon we might get a decent read on Satdy arvo. We do pay for it after all

under 14s: dont know too much about either team although ironbank appear to be the form side and with a leading goal kicker like shearwood dominating most weeks im gonna tip the bankers medal tip: shearwood

17s: lofty 17s dont often lose grand finals however uraidla will be hungry, would wager that almost all the uraidla lads havent played in the grandy before, on the flipside most of the lofty lads have for this reason im tipping lofty by 3 goals medal winner: Blake turner -weibreck

B grade: biased here but i think lofty will have too much through the midfield and will often get first use from jonesy, also cant see blackwoods b grade containing our forward line with madsen fleet agars and huxford all capable of kicking bags! blackwood have some guns down forward aswell but i believe we can contain them more effectively lofty by 5 goals medal tip: tom maslin or jonothan downes

A grade: Uraidla will be worried about there injuries, blackwood sure did a good job for us! both the mcleans were hobbling badly and as bazz said sutherland is also under a cloud, dylan brown is a good young player and really showed it last week took some strong grabs paechy will more than likely be the match up for him, loffler rarely plays poorly however is yet to really dominate against the devs perhaps this is his week? if he and joel brown dont get on the board early devs will win comfortably devils by 4 goals medal winner: floreani

B Grade- To say that Blackwood haven't flirted with the rules again is an understatement. I played against them twice during the year and the most recent the second last round. I could not pick more than 10 players who's faces I know on Saturday. There were more unknowns on their team than I have seen before. Definitely the only reason that they got through on Sat. Exactly the same deal as last year when they played Uraidla with all their illegal unknowns.

MT. Lofty may be in for a huge shock going by Saturdays turnout!

It seems Blackwood are operating under the same club plan as last year (stacking their central b's) but have obviously learnt lessons and are doing it legally this time round. It is true that if their country team didn't exist the team that lines up this week would therefore be Blackwood's B's and be a strong unit, but you have to feel for the guys who get shafted around to different leagues so that Blackwood can field a strong central B grade finals side. It would suck if you were one of those players whom just knew they wouldn't play finals because the country A's wouldn't get there and the central B's will be stacked with country A graders come finals.

Coco has been in discussion with Judd's people for months. We've apparently done a deal where he only has to play the quarters when we're going downhill to protect his groin.

His Mrs has been offered a media role as offical judge of Mr Mt Lofty from 2008 onwards.

Oh, and Sir Judd likes the red and white Mt Lofty colours.

Go you Devils!
